you’ve been doing very well on ebay lately!!! less than £33!!! :thumb:
i didn’t even see that one.i’m not going to remind you of what you said to me only 2 days ago though…

Kevin DemuthMemberQuote:can you tell me about the pigtronix attack sustain?i’d like to know too…
i’ve watched the PGS demo four times over the last couple of days and am really tempted to get one…March 16, 2009 at 6:08 pm in reply to: I feel like a traitor and I’m not proud of the purchase I made recently. #94569Kevin DemuthMemberQuote:No offense to the Boss/Roland fans but Electro Harmonix is stupid badass. I’ve gone with out so that I could have premium effects like Electro Harmonix. I never missed meals or was late on rent because I found a Boss Product that I absolutely had to have. In my opinion Boss/Roland makes the best chromatic tuners. Boss used to make the PS-3 which in my opinion is their best effect they have but I’d rather have a HolyStain any day. The only DOD pedal you would catch me using is a FX-25b. Any one got a beef with that? I’m as serious as cancer. If there was such as thing I would blow my tax return right now for a decent EH pedal board.this is nothing personal but i always get a little frustrated when people dismiss a brand (such as Boss) just down to personal preference without even accepting that brand as a viable option…
for the record, i don’t think anyone would say that Boss make the best chromatic tuners either.
i like EHX as much as anyone on this forum (i wouldn’t be here otherwise) but i’m not so blinkered to elevate them above every other brand… there are lot’s of EHX products i don’t like. if i were to list my 5 favourite pedals then 5 different brands would be represented.
and what’s wrong with DOD?
they have produced a lot of great pedals in the past; lots of them being quirky/unusual/innovative – very much in a similar vein to EHX designs… there’s not a lot out there which is similar to the Punkifier, Vibrothang etcMarch 12, 2009 at 9:29 pm in reply to: I feel like a traitor and I’m not proud of the purchase I made recently. #94434Kevin DemuthMemberQuote:The only Boss pedal I would be caught using is one of their chromatic tuners with a Peterson tuning contact mic…why is that?
Boss have made loads of great pedals (and other things) over the years…Kevin DemuthMemberthere’s not a lot of EHX on my board right now…
i do switch my pedals around quite often so it never stays the same for that long.
my other EHX pedals: Small Stone, Pulsar, Germ OD, Micro Pog
Kevin DemuthMemberQuote:if you don’t get the whine don’t worry about it…and consider yourself lucky!!…if you add more pedals it might happen, for me it totally depends on what else I have plugged in at the time, sometimes it’s fine, other times it’s not and I have to use the seperate psu, but it doesn’t seem to depend on the amount of pedals just certain ones.
this is true. i’ve daisy chained mine with about 12 other pedals at one time and not had any noise issues.
there are some pedals that it doesn’t like to share power with though.
but, out of the 40 or so pedals i have, it only objects to sharing power with 4 of them.Kevin DemuthMemberi already have:
Small Stone
LBM
Germanium OD
Micro Pog
Pulsar
SMMw/Hwhat would i add?
maybe a Pog
maybe a Graphic Fuzz
a second SMMw/H
one of the Grails (possibly).
something that hasn’t been released yet.Kevin DemuthMemberQuote:Hi!
My SMMH makes two kinds of noises:
-one consistent hum, which I suspect is caused by my cheap power supply (daisy chaining).
-one tone/note which changes in pitch when I change the “delay”-knob setting, getting lower in pitch as the delay time increases. This is present even in “bypass” mode.
It’s not loud, but still very annoying.
Is this a warranty issue?
It’s less than one year old.-boemann
the hum will (probably) be down to your power supply/daisy chaining… mine does the same (but only with certain other pedals).
the second noise, i don’t know…
does it still happen if you power the Haz from its own power supply? (ie. not daisy chained.)
if it does, then it’d be best to make use of the warranty.Kevin DemuthMemberQuote:damn, I want one now……:thumb:
yeah, you do!
i use it most for a clean(ish) sound or for adding a different ‘texture’ to other pedals.
it sounds great with the Punkifier… it can make it sound even nastier! :rawk:
Kevin DemuthMemberQuote:I wouldn’t recommend it as anyone’s only overdrive but coupled with another drive before it or a boost it cranks.that’s exactly how i use mine…
quite often i’ll leave it on all of the time (with a subtle setting) and run other dirt pedals into it; the GeOD is one of those magic pedals which seems to make any other pedal you use it with sound better. :thumb:Kevin DemuthMemberQuote:Does the name “Germanium OD” have anything to do with the element Germanium?Sorry if its a stupid question.
yes.
“The Electro-Harmonix Germanium OD is a classic 1960’s overdrive based around a hand selected germanium transistor.”

Kevin DemuthMemberQuote:While we’re on the topic, are digital ehx effects like my good ole SMMH true bypass? When i hear digital, I think buffered, and that totally fucks with my fuzzes. That’s why I never use boss pedals.i don’t think ALL of the digital EHX pedals are true bypass…
i’m not sure about the Haz (something tells me it’s not but i don’t know – and don’t care – either way) but i’m sure i remember reading that the Micro Pog is buffered.digital pedals can be buffered or true bypass, just like analogue pedals.
why do you never use Boss pedals?
i’ve got a few Boss pedals and the buffers sound fine to me…
or are you suggesting that they’re digital?Kevin DemuthMemberQuote:… the only time you’d have a TB signal is when all your pedals are turned off….and how often does that happen? 😆exactly!
turn your pedal on and the bypass is irrelevant!
Kevin DemuthMemberQuote:Forum member One: I need a transparent compressor that I can leave on all the time and won’t effect my tone too much.
Forum Member two: EHX blackfinger?
Forum member One: is it true bypass?
Forum member two: :freak:😆
i agree with what you said about buffered pedals.
my Small Stone has a slight volume drop but if i put a buffered (bypassed) pedal in front the volume drop disappears. if only the Small Stone was buffered!
there are the obvious manufacturers like Boss which make buffered pedals but there are also some higher-end companies making buffered pedals – Roger Mayer comes to mind. i think Roger knows a thing or two about making pedals so i doubt he’d be using buffers if they were inferior to true bypass.
