Did you check for cold solder joints? I would take a close look on the joints of the sliders.

I thought so. Thanks for that update.

Howard’s mod did it all! It sounds perfect with humbuckers now. I loved this pedal with all my heart but after Mr. Davis his modifications this pedal has it all. Incredible, my most favourite delay pedal can handle hi gain pick ups without trouble and seems to sound even better with single coils.

    Thanks again!

Yes I found the problem and fixed it already, I changed the sockets with high quality ones and the earth was always connected to the battery wire. I put a switching socket in the input and connected the battery to it. Works like a charm again. I was confused! Sorry!

I recently added a daisy chain socket to power my Russian big muff and it works great, I just have one problem.
When the pedal is powered by a battery (no AC/DC plug connected) the battery still drains…

Every time I store it away the battery that is left inside is dead. I measured out the resistance between the + and – lugs of the socket and it’s 75k, even when it’s off.

I believe this is because of the disconnected sockets from the input and output…that the mod describes.

I believe the original input socket worked as some sort of switch for disabling battery drainage.
So basically the effect is on ALL the time with this mod. Or perhaps I missed something.

Does anybody know how I can prevent this?

I got an idea that might already come close:

By using one of those “switch mono sockets” and use the switch for disconnecting the ground wire from the battery, when the input jack is disconnected? I believe the mod tells you to solder a jumper on the input holes. I just can’t remember where it was.

    I’ll contact you in time.

The pedal has emptied my wallet quite a bit for now…

Why don’t you just bring it back to the dealer?

To my conclusion, it’s actually better to just increase R2 (the resistor before the opamp U1) just a tad. Definetly not with a 1 Meg pot. More like a pot of 250k ohm and that will work alright and has a nice range. At least for my guitars it has.

I’ve been thinking about this potmeter at the input jack. If I would put it there, wouldn’t it affect the bypass signal as well? In other words, I think it should be after the relay, not at the input jack? Eventually this might create a little volume drop, when the effect is engaged. But at least it won’t overload so bad, I hope.

That’s right, thanks for the tip I’ll try it out tomorrow.

I would send it right in for repair, I always had super fast customer service with ehx…
You need to have some patience in life sometimes.

Wouldn’t that be more or less the same as just putting a “volume” pedal before the DMM or cutting back on the volume pot on the guitar?

Hi, I don’t know exact delay length, but I liked messing with the delay time a lot. So much that I just changed the internal trimpot for a full-sized potmeter to adjust it from the outer case.
    Mine is a re-issue.

What exactly are you trying to do? My guess is you are trying to recalibrate to the original delay length?

I believe in REV.L there were CA3094 used. Probably one of them are bad.
