well if EQ’ing it didn’t effect it and overdriving the pre-amp did, I’m thinking it’s one of two things:
1. you need more gain
2. You need a more complex distortionjulianModeratorOne of the reasons I dumped my first girlfriend was because she didn’t take my frequency analyzer seriously.

1:18 on the Video is Bill Ruppert’s trying to recreate the flute sound of the mellotron, which is already described in the thread. On the HOG you can set it similar to how he set the POG2 to get a similar effect, though I think the compressor and the polychorus probably add quite a bit too it.
I was talking more about this sound:

I can’t remember how exactly I did it though. I think it was a 5th + half-cocked freeze/gliss + the right filtering.
There are so many sounds you can get out of that box it is ridiculous.
julianModeratorWell remember that a Saxophone’s harmonic content is very different than that of a guitar and a fuzz/distortion is going to work differently with it.
What distortions/fuzzes have you tried?
A few things I’d try:
Take your Q-tron and put it before the distortion. Put it in lowpass filter mode, with the resonance set kind of low.
Try your Micro POG in front of the distortion with the dry all the way up, and slowly inch up the octaves and see how that effects the sound.
These are just things that would help in altering the Sax’s harmonic content to maybe give the fuzz something a bit more to play with.
julianModeratorI don’t think they’ve change the circuit at all. At least that I know of. I got one when they first came out, and I love mine.
julianModeratorwell if you’d go as far as to make your own custom cable, you could always change the jack on the pedal to something else.
julianModeratorrepeats turn into mush on all analog delays, that’s sort of part of the charm
Also there’s a third competitor here: Malekko 616

But compared to a DD-3 it sounds very analog!

BUT for your application, I think I’d go for something like this:

You’d still have to glue it in underneath, but it’s much nicer than a clear rubber foot!
February 20, 2010 at 8:54 pm in reply to: Im I the only one who was dissapointed with the Memory Toy? #107728julianModeratorEHX Analog Delays are generally less filtered than analog delays like the Boss DM-3, so they don’t sound as dark, which is usually equated with analog.
I can’t judge the MT, I don’t have one. shrug
julianModeratornot really a song, but thanks.
Yeah, it’s hard to play with one hand. Plus I can’t play drums.
February 19, 2010 at 6:01 am in reply to: HOG + modded Frequency Analyzer + DIY sequencer I’m designing youtube vid #107700julianModeratoryes I made it, and it’s not a looper!
Well it does loop, but not sounds. It steps through and loops expression pedal settings.
julianModeratorYou’ve probably heard more but just don’t know it.
Most FX that are new are nothing new, it’s true. But there’s infinite variations and innovations.
julianModeratorDEVO used a lot of ring mod early on.
I’ve written a lot of riffs and songs around ring modulation. But I’m also a huge noise rocker. You’d probably hear some of the songs I’ve written and go “WTF?”
julianModerator210 makese sense. Most of their 2 footswitch pedals are around 210.
