I have the same problem, and my solution is to split the signal and mix it back together at some point, and use a volume pedal with the delay/verb set full wet. It’s not a perfect solution, but it is incredibly flexible, and opens you up to new effects combinations running them in parallel instead of in series. (At first I split the signal right before the delay, now I do it earlier and run several effects in parallel with fuzz.)
If EH were to do an expression blend, I’d prefer them to have it be a wet level control instead of a straight blend control though, but maybe that’s just me.
julianModeratorI don’t really think you could get a POG2 to sound like an octavia. Octave fuzzes and digital pitch shifters sound worlds apart to me.
Octave fuzzes have a certain bit of clang to them because they’re actually really basic ring modulators, and because of that they start to do interesting things when you play two notes at once on them.
julianModeratorhere’s an easy way to do it without modding the pedal (which is a PAIN on SMD):
Give it less voltage:
julianModeratorchange patches, use multiple expression modes at the same time (maybe?) control each and every slider remotely. . .
julianModeratormidi would be a dream come true on the HOG for me. . .
so many crazy awesome things that could be done with it with MIDI.julianModeratorMine’s dead silent. Could be a bad cable.
julianModeratorYeah. . . Sonic Crayon FX is going to fix the Hollow Earth so it will work with the HOG I believe.
Even though I can make stuff like that. . . I still want an MP-201. So much is in that box. Except no sequencing and you’ve got to have a gate extractor with a midi out to be able to use the ADSR on board.
Although I could make a gate extractor. . .
and yeah, I eventually plan to sell my creations on a small scale.
julianModeratorQuote:Hey Julian,way to go!!!!!!+!
amazing sounds! that’s what i was thinking about – and the HOG ist jsut the beast for it:
i mean – filter, pitch and volume sequenzing via a tremlike EP!!! great stuff.
you even can do tremoloing via the volume setting.
sounds amazing – very good video.
sadly i’m not that good at electronics – i can’t do my own pedal.now that would be something EH should do! the more, as they have many new pedals with EP-plug!
think about what you could do with the new stereo polyflange coming up next
saliva-liva-liva
maybe we should recommend such a pedal in a thread of its own???
best regards
diegono they shouldn’t!
Because I’m going to start making them!
Though if they came out with something similar, I guess I’d just change my design.
julianModeratorI’ve been able to get some really screwed up stuff with Freeze Gliss and random on guitar, no clips ATM though. It’s hard to get the random settings just right for the freeze gliss, but at one point I was getting dial-up modem sounds.
here’s a vid I made:
julianModeratorThe seek trem.
I’ve actually designed a digital sequencer expression pedal for myself after having wanted a sequencer for years. So I’m happy. . . my HOG can make all kinds of weird noises now.
Also want to do an ADSR at some point, though that will be harder because I’ll have to extra gate from a guitar signal.
julianModeratorI’d think a lot of it would be in technique. . . tapping would probably help quite a bit
julianModeratoreeek, bad news. . . I’m using up both my high mA outputs on my power supply. . .
julianModeratorQuote:Wicked!but what a phantastic idea!
and – i mean – this pedal could even be digital and therefor programmable to different waveforms (like similar to random EP movement?!).
even more wicked – a pedal with a touchscreen to “free paint” or generate different waveforms.
modulation heaven!
and this way you could have analog sound digitally rendered – even with correct tempo!maybe we should start a company.
cheers
diego
Sounds sort of like the Hollow Earth by Sonic Crayon FX, though his doesn’t have a touch screen, that’s a great idea.

Super curious about that FX loop, are subsequent delays each more effected than the last? i.e. do effects put into the loop build on each other as each delay is passed? It doesn’t seem this way in the 2 demos I can find. Kindly let me/us know when you get yours, if ya could.
An example of what I’m talking ’bout: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vaWKlLT2kxU&feature=related
The effects loop on the DXMB is in the feedback loop of the delay, before the delay block, so each subsequent repeat goes through the effects loop to build upon each other.
As an example, if you have a pedal that pitch shifts your note an octave up and put that in the effects loop, the first delayed note you hear will be one octave up, the second delayed note you hear will be two octaves up and so on.
Oh, good news!
julianModeratoralso open it up and check to see the three parts of the input jack are OK. On my Little Big Muff, the sleeve connection got bent I believe and thus it wouldn’t turn on because the sleeve and ring need to connect together for the pedal to turn on. (Since you plug a mono plug in, the mono plug acts as a connector between the two, since the sleeve of the mono plug touches the ring)
