there are never enough ways
my board has a ring mod, a bit crusher, a HOG (which you can get to sound screwed up if you set it right), a SMMH (which can do some pretty weird stuff in multi-tap and reverse modes- not to mention the stuff I can do looping), and a Pulsar (which does pseudo-ring mod)
julianModeratorsynth through HOG = love
I have a Sequential Circuits 6-trak, and the HOG just sounds awesome with it, especially in filter mode with the expression.
julianModeratoryeah
some people are easier than othersjulianModeratoryeah always straight into the amp
only effects you should run in loop are modulation and delayjulianModeratorI said it in another thread: the EHX mod wheel.
trem, resonant filter, vibrato- square/sine LFO. Dual axis expression pedal- one axis controls depth, one controls speed.
julianModeratorElectro-Harmonix doesn’t make any expression pedals- but other companies do.
Boss makes one (EV-5), Moog makes two (EP2) and (MP-201 really expensive super expression pedal), Zoom makes one (FP), M-audio makes one, and you can also use volume pedals with a special Y cable that takes 2 mono 1/4″ to stereo 1/4″. Also the DOD FX-17 has a 1/8″ CV out- so if you use a 1/8″ to 1/4″ cable you can use that too. Also there is the Devi Ever Peep which uses a photo eye.
That’s all I can think of off the top of my head.
The M-audio is the cheapest at about 30 bucks (but it is also made out of plastic). Moog MP-201 is the most expensive.
Personally for your needs, I’d go for the Moog EP-2. It’s built very solidly, and not much more than the M-audio.

I’m talking chorus, flanger, delay, tremolo, vibe, etc. Imagine a bass, rhythm and lead guitar with all of their effects tightly synced. If these pedals existed, tap tempo would be the perfect addition for the ultimate versatility. Like I said, I don’t know if anyone would care about this or if it’s even possible in a profitable manner, but I thought I’d throw it out there. Cheers.Build in a MIDI-sync perhaps? That strikes me as one of the simpler solutions, as then you can maintain a continuous change in effect speed rather than it jumping between increments.
As far as stuff I’d like to see,
-Instrument vocoder – essentially like the Frantone Glacier’s line-in effect, but affordable and done EHX style.-a lot of people seem to want a tuner. I’m not particularly keen on the idea, as to me a tuner is relatively trivial, but what about an auto-tune stompbox? I know the effect is overused, but I can still see some interesting possibilities (auto-tune fretless bass or slide guitar anyone?)
-freeze pedal – takes a short sample of the sound being played at the moment the pedal is depressed and replays it until the pedal is released (or maybe have it tap-on/tap-off), to much the same effect as the sostenuto pedal on a keyboard
That all I can pull off the top of my head.
You can do a simple mod for the frequency analyzer to do what the Glacier does.
julianModeratorit doesn’t normalize your notes
if you play a note that is slightly flat, the voice will be slightly flatjulianModeratorcome on
I love giving gifts
well
when the gifts are really good
julianModeratorif it’s smaller and more affordable and built into a pedal enclosure maybe it would be good.
julianModeratorClothers and money I suspect. And some candy.
I have a list.
I’m banking on it being ignored.
julianModeratorawesome
I love the HOG
julianModeratorI think it is a Bass VI
the baritones don’t have the tremolo as far as I know
julianModeratorit’s just an assumption really
since everything else is getting XO’dDecember 20, 2008 at 6:28 am in reply to: order all the EHX pedals you’ve owned from favorite to least favorite #89264julianModeratorthere’s a fix for that now
