my plans:
-get some more fuzzes including another Big Muff or two
-get a Presonus Firepod for recording
-get a Moog MP-201 and program it to do a bunch of crazy stuff with my HOGjulianModeratorYou’re not really Jack Black are you?
julianModeratorNothing wrong with a warm adapter, but a hot and smelly adapter might not be good. Though the smell could just be from some paint on a cap or something. New tubes get that where the paint heats up and gives this odd scent.
Anyways, don’t leave your board on, switch off your power strip when you aren’t using it. For two reasons:
1. saves energy
2. if lightning were to strike your house with your pedals plugged in, it could be bad news for them!December 31, 2008 at 9:04 pm in reply to: Thinking of getting a new guitar… I have a bit of a dilemma #89911julianModeratordude I use fuzz with humbuckers all the time for my stuff
fuzz with p90s sounds wicked
and SGs are awesomeSG with P-90s would be so awesome
julianModeratorGuitar Center is notoriously bad at having new stuff in stock
julianModeratorawesome
they have a pretty quick turn around
you should be rocking it in no timejulianModeratornice collection
julianModeratorwell I think in mono it is
julianModeratorwell the octave effects I believe are optimized for Bass. So it will respond better on lower notes, but not as well on higher notes I believe.
julianModeratorBTW they can also do a mod for it if you’d like them to- it adds a way to bypass the count in before looping
julianModeratorI apologize, I forgot you said that.
Have you tried putting it in other places in your chain?
Maybe it doesn’t like what’s in front of it or vice versa.
Some dirts prefer to be out front interacting directly with your guitars pickups, and might not react quite the same behind a buffered bypass.
While at the same time, maybe the Micro POG doesn’t work well in the chain after a buffer (if it is after a buffer.)
julianModeratorAFAIK they’ll still repair stuff that is not warrantied, it just costs a little bit more. I’ve only ever sent a pedal under warranty in, but from what I’ve heard from others, it should be around 25 bucks.
julianModeratorDo you feel that it sucks tone when in your chain?
Or are you just worried that it might be without you noticing it?
I used to be worried about not having a 100% True Bypass board. I’ve since realized my clean tone is fine. And I no longer feel the need to true-bypass everything.
In fact, some pedals when true-bypassed can make matters worse, because of impedance issues.
Also their is nothing wrong with a good buffered bypass. Having a 100% true bypass board will make you suffer from tone loss more than one with a buffer or two in it because of impedance issues.
julianModeratorYou might want to check out the normal small clone or the clone theory if you don’t like the way your nano clone is. The Clone Theory has a bit of a hiss, but it doesn’t drop volume and sounds very good.
julianModeratorI think the best option would be to send it to EH for repairs. Email info@ehx.com to get a repair number. They’ll probably charge you about 25 bucks.
BTW Sonic Youth 37, I recognize you from the Sonic Youth board. Welcome!
