IOSEPHVSParticipantI ordered the Worm, and it arrived yesterday afternoon. I have only been able to explore its features for about an hour this morning. In a few days, I’ll come back and give a bit of review on the pedal. So far I have discovered that there are what I will call different modes of operation, depending on whether or not an EXP pedal is plugged in, and where the Auto/Manual switch is set. I have found some of the sweet spots on the various effects, and they sound amazing. Right now I have a Good Vibes running into the Worm, and controlling both/either with the EHX Dual EXP Pedal; they play well together.
I think I need to contact EHX because I did not get the rubber worm.
IOSEPHVSParticipantI’ll help with resurrecting the thread. I own a 60 Watt Marshall JCM600 2×12 Combo that out of curiosity I just re-tubed with four matched and balanced Mullard reissue CV4004s, and two matched Mullard Reissue EL34 XF2s. I also have a 5 Watt Crate Palomino V8 that contains a CBS/Hytron 12AX7 and a GE 6BQ5/EL84, both tubes were 1960s NOS when I installed them. Primarily, I use the Marshall when playing with others, and the Crate gets used for practicing alone if the Marshall is not home with me. I use both for recording since they produce similar yet different timbres.
Quote:It’s a curiosity that the EHX forum is so neglected. One would think it would be the perfect place for all things EHX. I’m gonna ressurect this old thread. For what it’s worth, I’m needing a loop switcher for my current, and growing church rig. The B9,C9, and Synth 9 are next for the pedalboard. Obviously, we don’t have an official keyboard player, so I was elected for double duty.Guitar/bass amps

IOSEPHVSParticipantHi. There isn’t one, single answer to your question. The best thing is to experiment with what you have, and find out what works best for you. As the responder before me indicated, there are many posts and videos on the web that attempt to subjectively resolve pedal placement, but there are too many variables. Does your amp have an effects loop? Is it serial or parallel, or maybe you have both. Do any of your pedals have effects loops?
For example, my Marshall JCM602 has both serial and parallel effects loops. I put pedals that do not have a wet/dry control in the parallel loop so that I can mix their output with my dry signal. Everything else goes in the serial loop. I use the amps spring reverb, so I don’t have to worry about where to place a reverb pedal, but I would think one would go somewhere at the end of signal chain since that’s where the effect naturally takes place yet, the Turnip Greens allows one to flip the Holy Grail Max and the Soul Food signal path, and placing the reverb first is interesting. Also, I don’t use any overdrive, fuzz, distortion pedals since that is what I use the OD channel on the amp for, but I am looking at the Ram’s Head reissue which I would probably put first in the serial loop, or possibly between the guitar and amp’s preamp valves.
Keep it simple and experiment.
IOSEPHVSParticipantI have been looking at the Worm, and I think it might be my next purchase. I also think that it might work well with my Good Vibes (Chorus/Vibrato) and Dual Expression Pedal. I have watched several demo videos on the WWWW, but I am waiting for a local store to have one in stock that I can actually demo myself.
Pros:
Analog
Multi-Effect (Wah/Phaser/Tremolo/Vibrato)
EXP ControlCons:
Multi-Effect (Wah/Phaser/Tremolo/Vibrato)Multi-Effect is listed as a Pro because packaging all the effects in one unit lowers the overall cost, but it is listed a a Con because a dedicated pedal for each effect might offer greater control for each specific effect.
As for modulated effects, I generally use them to the extent that they are barely discernible to color the sound. Usually, if I can make out the effect there is probably too much of it.
