    Hi Laurence,
I just bought a Ravish a month ago, and was also wondering about how to more easily kick in and out the sympathetic with an expression pedal. I have a fairly inexpensive OnStage expression pedal, and with the expression connected to the drone input, I can fade the drone in and out (sympathetic out connected to a separate channel on amp). I’m having 2 problems:
    1. In heel all the way down, I can never fade the drone completely out, it gets about 80% there
    2. In heel up, i cant get the sympathetic freeze to kick in on the note I want without unplugging and re-plugging in the expression pedal to the Ravish drone input

I have tried adjusting the polarity switch, and adjustable expression range on the Onstage pedal, but still does not achieve my goal. Is it just that the Onstage is a cheap expression pedal, and I need to get a better / different expression pedal?

    Regards,

    Howie

I think you are right. After more research and fiddling around with it and the rest of me gear last night, it appears the 8 step has no pass thru for guitar, and it can only be used when connecting to an expression pedal input. Some of my gear is deceiving, as my old Digitech RP5 has a “pedal controller” input, the 8 step worked on it. My Alesis Iodoc, jamman, etc have “footswitches”, but evidently not the same… am still learning terminology.

The 8 step does have a Midi in, and my IO dock, and Gr33 have midi ports, so I’ll try those next.

Was hoping for something simpler though from a guitar playing perspective that did not need midi. Still searching for other pedals that give me the expression input and a wider variety of guitar / synth fusion possibilities, maybe the 8 step is not the right fit for me.

    Thanks for the feedback!
