Test your DMM outside of your pedalboard with only a good 24VDC adaptor, guitar, and amp hooked up to it. If it works properly that way, the problem lies elsewhere. If the DMM is at fault, as the engineer that designed it I certainly can fix it. Email me privately at howard.davis2@att.net.

I can also do many custom mods – please email me privately at howard.davis2@att.net for more information.Guitar pedal design engineering, repairs, and custom mods:

http://howardmickdavis.comMarch 26, 2011 at 4:58 pm in reply to: does the deluxe memory man have similar/the same oscillation as an old (non-deluxe) memory man? #114792Howard DavisMemberALL of the MM/DMM models should be able to oscillate with the feedback turned up high enough. If it cannot, something is wrong – possibly the trimpot alignment. I can fix it.

Lab equipment and the correct alignment procedure are necessary to properly set the trimpots. It cannot be done without these. As you’ve tampered with them, you’ll now have to have it done by someone with the right equipment and knowhow. I can do it.

I can fix it.Guitar pedal design engineering, repairs, and custom mods:

The Deluxe Memory Man was designed for a 550 msec. maximum delay. Some units, due to component tolerances and manufacturing problems, do not have this long a delay time. A mod can be done that corrects this condition. You can get at least 650 msec of maximum delay time before distortion is significantly increased at the longest delay settings. If interested in my mods for the DMM, email me directly at howard.davis2@att.net

This is discussed in depth on my website: http://www.howardmickdavis.com/Tubesvs.SolidState.htm

where can i send it to have it restored? its about 11 years old and i am the original owner. It may not need anything more than an alignment. I designed it, so I certainly can fix it.

Howard DavisMemberGo by what you hear, not what the LED does. No harm in overdriving the pedal if you don’t mind the distortion.
I do a Hot Pickup mod that increases the headroom to reduce distortion when the level is high, as with hot pickups.
If interested in this and other mods for the DMM, email me at howard.davis2@att.netHoward Davis, EE – designer of the Memory Man.

http://howardmickdavis.comHoward DavisMemberIt requires an oscilloscope, audio oscillator, the test/alignment procedure, and experience as a technician to properly set the trimpots. Without these, it should not be attempted as you’ll probably just make things worse. I designed the Deluxe Memory Man, and I certainly can restore yours to sound and operate like new.
