I followed the steps on that other thread on lining the pots up (have no access to an oscilloscope and I’m not really comfortable with sending my unit all over the world to Howard Roberts) and I managed to point my issue better: I have no problem whatsoever with the unit as long as I keep the range between 0 and the first mark. If I got any higher, I start getting some scratchy noises on a part of the oscillation. It’s almost as if most of the range had some kind of problem, but as long as I don’t go there, it’s all right… any ideas on what this could be?

When I was to get my DM I read a lot around this forum and at some thread someone said they do not sound exactly the same. I like the Hot Tubes but I have a feeling it could get better, perhaps that’s the way.

I’m not familiar with the Sunn Concert Slave. Is it a normal bass amp ou just the power amp section?I hardly get to play bass these days. I’m planning on buying a short-scale six string bass, but that’s gonna take some time.
I tried a setup that Cryabetes suggested, using the Hot Tubes as a line driver, keeping it on all the time, but it got very noisy. I think I’d rather use it as a drive/distortion pedal.
