when i put the 45000 into beat-sync, it does follow the tap tempo from the eventide and give the same tempo to the devices later in the chain. but when i go to record a loop on the agreed tempo, the looper won’t sync and blinks until its given a midi start command to start recording. i can get around it by putting the timefactor into a looper mode. I start recording from the timefactor which then sends a command to the 45000 to then start recording. but then that defeats the purpose on using the 45000 at all. i’d rather keep the timefactor in delay mode and loop on the 45000 all while controlling it on a voodoo lab GCX ground control.
help please =]wait are you controlling the 45000 with the GCX via MIDI? it seems like the 45000 only does either/or–beat-sync, or full MIDI slaving. what you are describing sounds like the looper still thinks it is in external control mode. and you hit the “EXT CLOCK” button twice, and the LED for it is blinking? that sends it in beat-sync. is the “PLAY” LED on the 45000’s foot controller lit solid green when in beat-sync mode? it will blink rapidly if there is an issue with the looper receiving MIDI.
when you say the looper blinks i assume you mean the “RECORD” button on the foot-controller? normally if you press that button again, the loop will start recording, and continue recording until hit the “PLAY” button next to it.
if this still persists maybe try using a different MIDI-clock source than the eventide?

in other words have it beat sync and then record directly by pressing foot controller to the 45000. the 45000 will start recording on time to the nearest beat. allowing the user to instantly start recording or playing on any beat? please help….this will allow for all my pedals to agree on a midi clock while keeping the 45000 completely independent from having another device telling it what to do.

to MIDI-sync, and NOT completely control it as a slave, just using the the external MIDI clock to sync the looper:
-unplug the pedal and plug it back in
-make sure you are sending MIDI externally to the 45000’s MIDI input
-press the “ext. clock” button once so it is lit, then press it again so it is blinking
-press “quantize” button next to it
-press “new loop”*if the looper is not receiving MIDI clock in this mode, or if the clock is being picked up and not correctly syncing, the green “play” LED on the control pedal will be flashing very rapidly. in order for the pedal to successfully sync, you must have the MIDI master clock stopped, at the beginning of the song, pattern, set, etc. once you start the MIDI clock on the master, if everything is set correctly on the looper you should be getting good sync. the “clix” LEDs should be beating on time.
i have noticed a few bugs with this pedal. sometimes after a while of use, the MIDI clock sync will become unstable and the pitch/time will waver drastically. i have noticed the “clix” LEDs still generally flashing on beat, but the downbeat (two LEDs) will start lighting on other beats instead. this is alleviated 90% of the time by unplugging and plugging the looper back in, and restarting the master MIDI clock (this is imporant, if you are in the middle of a set the pedal will NOT go back into sync unless the master MIDI clock goes back to the start).
greenmachineMemberi dont have a kaoss pad, but you would want to go into the utilities/preferences/etc of the machine and select a “MIDI out” option of sorts. once the KP is set up to receive MIDI information, you want to follow the steps that i mentioned, ext clock flashing, quantize then start MIDI clock on the KP and you should be able to loop if all of this is set up right. the “play” LED on the foot controller of the looper will flash rapidly if it cannot sync to the MIDI clock.
i dont know how well this will work and like i said, i dont have a KP so i am not sure exactly how to do it step by step, but that would be the theory. ALSO, from what i understad, kaoss pads only will sync the TEMPO and not the loops themselves.
greenmachineMemberi had the same issue, i didnt want to use a master for transport commands or else i would just be looping in ableton…
i am running into ableton so this is what i did, keep in mind this took a LONG time for me to get everything right, so you must be PATIENT!
this is what i did:
-open new file in ableton, in preferences, under MIDI/SYNC, set the track, sync, and remote buttons to “ON” for the MIDI interface in the OUTPUT section.
-make sure the quantize/external sync buttons are off and unlit on the looper. then turn the external clock button on so it is lit. press it again for “beat-sync”—it should be flashing rapidly.
-press the quantize button next to the external button, it will be a solid light.
-play and record the loop, if everything is set up correctly it should operate just the same, but the looper starts and ends the loop on time with the downbeat of the nearest bar that you end the loop on. from what i understand this can be up to two beats max after downbeat of the last bar of the loop.
*it took me a while to hit on the right formula for the looper to sync to the external MIDI clock. i had to download and reinstall the driver for my MOTU fastlane MIDI interface. looping works fluidly about 80% of the time, with the pitch instability and cutting out occuring only some of the time but enough to be obnoxious.
i know there is a software update for the 2880 that supposedly fixes the pitch wavering issue with the MIDI sync, and i am wondering if i can use that update with the 45000?
also, if anyone has experience running this thing as a master (just to midi-sync!) to other synths/etc. i plan on running MIDI out from the looper into a couple synths that will run sequences, but i only plan on syncing them, not fully controlling them as slaves. if anyone knows how to do this let me know!

i was hoping this software update could fix this issue on my 45000. also i would like to be able to use the MIDI out on the looper to go into a synth or two of mine so i could sync them (not slave them) to the loop. this way i could give a drummer the click out and jam.
if anyone has experience with the software update or running the looper (2880 or 4500) as a master, for syncing, please reply!
greenmachineMemberi mean this is obvious but is the “clix” level up high enough? it works for fine for me when i routed everything the way you said. also, have you checked your cable going to the monitor? maybe try using headphones and see if there is a difference.
