August 26, 2009 at 10:12 am in reply to: Stereo Memory Man with Hazarai tips, tricks, and clips #100930ghostMemberIt likely has something to do with the “intelligent reverse” mode they’ve come up with… (mind you… I could be talking out of my ass),,, but I know the reverse mode does respond to the input signal, as to make it a bit more “playable”….
ghostMemberMake sure you are using the proper power supply first. The Stereo Memory Man w/ Haz doesn’t really like One Spots, or much of any other power supply – other than the supplied unit.
ghostMemberYou can also get the Graphic Fuzz and just switch off the Fuzz… For a nice EHX GEQ.
For metal – Octave pedal, Muffs, EQ, Volume Pedal.
ghostMemberTo answer a question somewhere up above – the Memory Bot ships with a power supply.
ghostMemberI’m from the US.
ghostMemberMoog EP-2 (not most people’s choice, but I like em).
ghostMemberMy choices for Violin/Viola are Muff, Small Stone, Holy Grail, and any delay or looper (Stereo Memory Man w/ Hazarai).
ghostMemberQuote:I have two Russian BMPs and honestly through my solid states they sound like heaven, but through my tube amp it sounds like absolute 100% garbage. It’s all farty and weird sounding…is this normal? My Russian Green BMP sounds like crap thru the Twin yeah, but great thru the Musicmaster Bass… Also great thru SS amps….

These are the kinds of things that make me love the new EHX stuff….. Somebody is looking out for us weirdo knob tweaker folks over at EHX… Knowing we are going route whatever they throw at every which way we can. Also this sounds like a really great idea!
ghostMemberThe Chorus/vib on the DMM is the same way for me. I’ve never wanted to put either past about one notch up..
Boy VS Carbon.. Trying to think of straight musical uses… more delay time… The ability to achieve lo-fi delays.. Also I think the Feedback ducking is better on the Boy…
Carbon copy is simple and also great though, just different. I’d keep ’em both for sure.
ghostMemberI will buy a DE-7 every time I see them used, as they run about $25-40 used. Lovely analog modeling pedal!
And regarding the Boy/Haz/DMM thing… I’t sounds like you want an analog delay. I was only pushing for the Haz, because it’s like having a filter, delay, reverb, looper in one..
To be honest I’m about to let go of my DMM. I can safely say after a week; I’m just fine with my Memory Boy. I will miss it’s big ugly face, and the moments where it overloads and slips away from my control – but it’s time to move on…

The only reason I’d get one is to sing along to my Zapp & Roger LPs.
ghostMemberMy opinions:
Get a SMMw/Hazarai no matter what. As it’s one of the best delay pedals designed to date.
Get a MBoy, OR an old used DMM. I personally haven’t liked the sound of any of the newer Deluxes I’ve played..
I vote Boy & Haz….
If it’s just one, then the Haz.
