Flick (EHX Staff)ModeratorQuote:I am also having issues using the EHX 45000 as MIDI clock master with a Korg Monologue (I also want to sync the arpeggiator).
I want the Korg Monologue to sync to the EHX 45000 but it does not seems to be completely out. I would have thought regardless of what loop I record on the EHX 45000 it could send out the right clock signal to slave devices? (I have set the Korg as a slave)
Are there any specific requirements of using the EHX 45000 as clock master that need to be considered?
The 45000 continuously sends out MIDI Clock on the MIDI OUT connector as long as the EXT. CLOCK LED is off. It will also send MIDI START and MIDI STOP commands when you press the PLAY button.
Flick (EHX Staff)ModeratorWhen creating the loop, while Quantize is enabled, press the PLAY button on the 45000 during beats 3 and 4 of the last bar you wish to record. The 45000 will continue recording to the end of the bar and then immediately begin looping without a delay.

Try updating your 45000’s firmware, below is the link to download the update, the zip file contains instructions on how to perform the update.

Flick (EHX Staff)ModeratorOn the Freeze, C24 is 0.1uF/50V in an 0603 package.
Flick (EHX Staff)ModeratorQuote:So the volume pot shaft snapped off my Soul Food in my bag.
Bummer. I replaced the pot with a better one and some jumpers to the PCB.
Yesterday, I dropped it while unscrewing the back to put in a new battery and the shafts of the other two pots snapped off. Please EHX if you’re listening, stop using these cheap shitty parts. I have vintage EHX gear from the 70s that’s built like a tank and still going strong. Hell, I have a couple of Mike Matthews Guild-branded pedals that pre-date EHX. And this Soul Food is less than a year old but has already suffered catastrophic failure.
Anyone have suggestions for pots to use? Esp the double gang drive pot. Or a mod to two pots, one of which would be a blend like the bass SF?
Sorry to hear the pots on your Soul Food are causing trouble. We updated quality of the pots about 8 months ago. When did you purchase your Soul Food or if you bought used, any idea when it was first purchased?
Flick (EHX Staff)ModeratorQuote:So what pedals in silencer loop? any order? Then all the rest ending into input of silencer?
Tom
Based on looking at the photo of your pedalboard, I would put the output of the tuner into the INPUT of the Silencer. Then I would put the compressor, booster and OCD in the effects loop of the Silencer. Then the OUTPUT of the Silencer connected to whatever it is connected now, which looks your amp.
Flick (EHX Staff)ModeratorQuote:Here is a picture a pedals. Thanks for the picture. You have setup the Silencer correctly, how is it working for you at the moment? If not that well, it might be a good idea to put the compressor in the effects loop instead of before the Silencer so that the output of the tuner goes straight into the INPUT jack of the Silencer. For some users, the Silencer works better when it receives a non-compressed version of your instrument signal.
Flick (EHX Staff)ModeratorQuote:Hi, thank you for reply! Are you 100% sure it’s 16? Everywhere I checked there was mentioned only 24 mmI am sure it is a 16mm pot. Where did you see that the Tone Wicker has 24mm pots? The NYC Big Muff uses 24mm pots but not the Tone Wicker.
Flick (EHX Staff)ModeratorYou have the potentiometer value correct — 100k/LOG — but not the physical size. The Tone Wicker’s Sustain pot has a 16mm diameter. An exact replacement pot can be found for sale at Small Bear Electronics:

Choose 100K Audio from the pull-down menu.
March 23, 2017 at 1:02 pm in reply to: Stereo memory man with hazarai – Two IC’s have fried! #122726Flick (EHX Staff)ModeratorIt seems like U12 is closer to working properly but still not quite there. It appears to be making 2.7V instead of the required 3.3V. This might be do to the “E” version of the chip but that is a guess. You could try lowering R18, which is 100 ohms right now, to something like 75 ohms. I would advise putting another resistor in parallel with R18 to lower its value. Try 330 ohms in parallel with R18.
Regard D13: unlike D12, D13 should have significantly more voltage across it, in fact the voltage across D13 will be close to the output voltage which is ideally 3.3V.
March 21, 2017 at 1:47 pm in reply to: Stereo memory man with hazarai – Two IC’s have fried! #122720Flick (EHX Staff)ModeratorFB7 is the voltage used to power the unit. Are you using 12V?
The voltage across D12 should be somewhere between 0.2V and 0.5V but it looks like you’re measuring over 8V. It’s possible D12 is no good and has burned out forming a resistor. You could try measuring D12’s forward voltage when the unit is powered down.
Since D12 is dropping so much voltage, the CS51414 is not getting a high enough voltage to be powered on correctly. The datasheet says it needs 4.5V but it is getting only 3.6V.
If you determine that D12 is bad, you could remove D12 and short out its two pads as a test to see if the rest of the circuitry is working normally. If it is fine with D12 shorted then replace D12.
March 20, 2017 at 4:07 pm in reply to: Stereo memory man with hazarai – Two IC’s have fried! #122714Flick (EHX Staff)ModeratorThe CS51414 should work since we don’t use the SYNC, BIAS or SHDNB pins but the IC you bought is the “E” version which we have had problems with regards to CS51413E. Did you measure the output voltage on the left side of L2 after changing this IC? I’m curious to know what voltage it is producing.
Flick (EHX Staff)ModeratorQuote:Hi,I got my EHX 22500 looper just now and I think it is defective.
I was reading through the common issues in this forum but could not find answers to the issue I encounter on this pedal.
Here is whats happening:
*I power it ON and all the lights turn on (with the 7-segment display shows “-28-“) and then turns off right away leaving BANK and the 7-segment display ON with whatever loop number.
*The 7-segment display changes number from 00 to 99 as I rotate the MODE knob.
*BANK LED is lit. It blinks when I press the MODE button and changes LED position when I rotate it.
*The four red and 2 yellow buttons turn on/off when pressed. Now, the moment I press LOOP A or LOOP B foot switches it totally freezes and stays at that until I unplug the power.
I tried firmware upgrade already but step 10 from the procedure does not work – (10. Now press and hold the MODE knob for approximately 2 seconds, until you see U displayed. Release the MODE knob.) – I don’t see the U displayed at all.
I hope you can help me.
Sincerely,
JefIt sounds like there is a problem either with the SD Card or the SD Card’s connector on the 22500. If you email info@ehx.com and basically copy your post into an email, and ask for a new SD Card, we will send another card to you. If it still does not work with the new card then it is a problem inside the 22500 and it should be repaired or exchanged.
