I was wondering, if your Polyflanges have the same kinda problem??

My polyflange doesnt have this issue. Sounds like the pots might have been replaced at some point. Have you looked inside?

They still have the tube pedals…

I wonder for how long? Their popularity has certainly waned on the forums, which is a shame because they are all fabulous. I have all of them now except for the English Muff’n.

There are several incarnations of the Electric Mistress.

But in short, the muff-sized mistresses ran on 2 9volt batteries (until Howard Davis updated the circuit to run on 1 9volt). They also had a tendency toward low-frequency loss and volume drop. Despite this issue, many still prefer the sound of these.

The Deluxe mistresses ran on 18v power supply IIRC, and the issues were fixed with the low-freq loss and volume drop.

Both used the Reticon SAD1024 BBDs. The 90s+ reissues use a different BBD chip.

    ugly… :-/

I like the colors. Reminds me of the original designs from the 70s. Very retro.

Im looking forward to the Talking Box and the DMM Tap.

But how is the Neo Mistress true to the original without the Range knob?

EH Man, what’s the chance that you would design a Talking Pedal Clone for those of us who’ll never score an original ? :D

    (substituting the unobtainium, of course)

Those are pre-1976 or even earlier (1973?). I’ve seen them in one of the earlier catalogs.
Value? See the link in my signature.

    How does it sound?

I have one from the late 70s, and I think it does a great job of sustaining clean single note leads, melodic lines, or ambient work:, but it’s just too noisy for me to use with chords.

This has been an issue with the memory boys all along. The delay time is affected by cold tempetatures. If you warm up the pedal (literally, like by a heater), your delay time will come back.

Yes, the Stereo Memory Man with Hazarai is one of my fav pedals released by any company in the last 20+ years. Highly recommended.

If you want to stay with your budget, the Memory Boy is loads of fun too.

Did you guys know EH had their own store next to Manny’s on 48th Street in NYC around 1981? It was a very, very narrow shop (the thinnest I have ever seen). That’s were I purchased my Digital Delay and eventually a 16 second Delay. They were not cheap then and I remember the amount of my yearly income it required to get those was pretty high.

Must’ve been like Wonkas Chocolate Factory with twice the psychedelics. Again, if i could go back in time….

Do you also use the newer EHX stuff released in the last 10 years, like the Flanger Hoax, or the HOG? Or just the pre 1983 stuff?

I reverse engineered every effect to create a modular guitar effect system of just EH effects. The basic guts of each EH effect have been mounted to an aluminum chassis and then to a faceplate in a manner similar to MOOG and Buchla modulars. I made multi panels, input panels, mixer panels, and out panels of my own designs as well as one panel that is a master supply with various voltage taps. Each effect has a mechanical relay engage and disengage bypass. I used super high quality pots and jacks and added op amps to secure voltages were that would make an improvement. The panels are all one of two sizes and can slide in the custom cabinet rack in any order. It is a 1/4″ patching system.

That is amazing! Will you be touring with that rig? I would love to hear/see that in action!

I own pretty much everything EH made… I still need to find one more Solid State Reverb and Random Tone Generator to add to the system as I have several other effects which I use in multiples and would like to do the same with these. I would also love to find backups of my Echo 600 and Digital Delays units as they both got very hammered over the years and are becoming quite difficult to repair. I hope if anyone here is ever willing to sell any of those 4 units that they please let me know.

Aside from EH Man (Ron), you are the only other person im aware of who has an Echo 600 and the Solid State Reverb. I’ve been hunting on eBay for years now, and I’ve never seen either listed. I would just love to actually hear them.

    Hi Fender&EHX4ever;,

GREAT SITE btw. I have been using EH gear since my first band days in the 70’s. In the band GRAY (with bandmate artist Jean Michele Basquiat).

I love the 96 movie Basquiat. I’ll have to pop in the dvd again and watch that. I’ll be on lookout too for Dowtown 81. NYC in the late 70s and early 80s seemed so full of creative energy. Wish i coud go back in time and participate.

I need to check out GRAY, Bohack, and rriiccee. Where should I start?
