We have mentioned this before and i think you guys will agree that a history section needs to be on this site.
EH Man Extravaganza has a list but only some products have pics.
Adding more pics to my site has been a “to-do” thing on my list for quite a while. I try to link products on the EH product list to pics that are already being used in the articles but I know I’m way behind on that. Give me time and I’ll have it caught up.
Well I pulled the trigger on this badboy and I’m super happy I did. There’s so much going on, I’m not used to having a looper with more than thirty seconds available! Functionally, this is actually surprisingly similar to the Hazarai, although much more powerful and precise and MUCH easier to use on the fly. The click track helps out a ton when recording longer loops, although the only two ways I can see to record loops in a different time signature are either a) set it to >32 bars, use a drum machine set to the time signature you want and be precise when ending the loop or b) learn to count polyrhythmically against the click and figure out how many bars your imagined loop will work out to be.
I decided the extra looping power of the 2880, for MY purposes, wasn’t worth the loss of the sweep (ultra cool) or the delay mode (ultra cool). Adding to this, I only play in mono, so I figured there wasn’t much sense in dropping extra coin for something less useful for my particular applications. All in all, a huge success for EHX! Now, does anyone know where I can get a foot controller?
Congrats on your decision!!! :thumb:
The sweep and the short delay are great features indeed.
Have you thought about getting the mod? EHX will still do it, and I think it’s about $30 or so. When you set the the Coarse slider 100%, it allows you to loop without the 4 beat count-in.
Great idea! I picked up a tube Hot Tubes and a Tube Zipper immediately after PureTube said that it was likely that they would be discontinued soon. I’m happy to see the Hot Tubes getting a limited run. Is it true that the Tube Zipper and Flanger Hoax will be discontinued soon?
This can’t be the end of me ?
Man i hope mine lives on forever!
I’m guessing that the Tube Zipper has been one of the most successful EHX pedals in the last 8 years, so it’s hard to imagine them discontinuing it. Still, with the whole line transitioning toward smaller diecast enclosures, it’s not impossible that they’ll phase out the whole tube series. I have most of them now, minus the English Muff’n, the LPB2ube, and the Mic Preamp. I’m debating if I want to keep the Tube EQ. I’m not sure how often I’ll use it, if at all.
Your sound = (if such a thing even exists) Is 100% The EHX sound and that is why you need a job there
If the economy gets any worse, I’m going to need a new job 😥 My school district is expecting close to $200,000,000 in budget cuts in the 2009-2010 school year; and the trend has always been to cut from media, technology, and the arts first.
you work in a school?
Yep. I’m a librarian/media & technology specialist.
I wish i had you working in my school  😆
What about me? :p
I’m a history teacher! Well, someday soon I will be
:thumb: Cool, EHX educators unite! High School or College?
Actually, I currently work as a district level resource teacher, which means I manage the library management software for 182 schools, and I train all of the media specialists and textbook managers how to use it. I also train new teachers how to integrate technology into their classrooms. I used to work as a classroom teacher for all age groups, from 9 years old to 18 years old. I might end up back in the classroom, which is cool by me. I enjoy working directly with young people, and the pay is the same either way.

are you keeping that BMS? Or just fixing it and flipping it?
I play bass guitar also on all of my studio tracks, so I’d like to try it out. I’ve heard from a lot of owners that it sounds great on electric guitar as well.
If I don’t like it, I’ll give you a heads-up first, but it might be awhile before I let go of it :thumb:
lol. You sure are addicted. Does the bass MS work well with guitar too?
I am addicted, but I’ve just begun collecting in the last couple of years, so I think the collection will dwindle over the coming years as I discover which pedals are essential to my sound (if such a thing even exists). I’ve already sold off a few things that I knew for sure were not my taste. I have a few more in mind.
One of the great things about these older EHX units is that they seem to hold their value really well on eBay.
Not to mention, I just get a lot of joy in restoring the really old beat up ones and learning about how they work. They’re like little puzzles to solve, and I feel so accomplished when I actually figure out how to fix them.
Haha, seriously, this idea doesn’t seem all that farfetched.
Actually what it would be is a pedal-sized sampler and sequencer with a CV trigger input and MIDI ports. It’s not like it has to be 32-bit sampling or anything like that. In fact, I really like the sound of lofi percussion sampling, so that would be even cooler for me.
not fixed yet. I just didn’t take it off my board. plus it looks good shame though, cause i would have used it.
i only came back from holiday 3 days ago and haven’t had that much time to open it up. I’ll have a look this week.
If shipping overseas wasn’t so damn cost-ineffective for us, I’d repair it for you; though it’s probably a good thing that you’re learning how to fix this stuff. The older EHX pedals can take a lot of beating, but they don’t hold together forever. I just bought a Bass Micro Synth on eBay BIN today with 3 broken sliders for a really good price (a little more than $100). I know that Small Bear sells the slider pots, so I’m going to try and tackle that project over the coming weeks.
