I don’t know how much I paid for it because it comes from an absurdly intricate net of trades and stuff, that’s why I’m posting macho-pictures of it here (and hi all, hope it’s a good first post), to hopefully know how much people would pay for it.

It’s been modded with true bypass, *sobrightitsdangerous* blue led and expression pedal. I’m also pretty proud of its conditions! :D

    She’s a real beauty

In last couple of years I’ve sat on the edge and dawdled over buying a vintage Freq Analyzer, but never pulled the trigger. I should have when the prices were still reasonable. They’re very expensive now.

    Any soundclips?

ac powered only I presume…they give you a power supply with it.

So the #1 Echo sounds like EHX’s response to the need for a compact delay pedal that can be powered on a daisy chain? It seems like such a basic pedal by EHX standards – no bells, whistles, hazarai, OTT features, etc.

Does it run on a 9v battery, or is it AC powered only?

I’ve owned about 4 different Big Muff Pis over the last year, and I’ve found that some are noisier than others. The noisiest one I owned was the one I have now, but I sent it to EHman for the Classic HairPie Mod and the noise floor was reduced to almost nothing. If the noise is unbearable, you might try trading it out for a different one.

Yes, the Mistress is lovely. My avatar is my 18v.

The 18v version is older than the 9v version. I read somewhere that David Cockerell designed the original 18v, and Howard Davis redesigned it to the 9v version. Can anyone verify if that is true?

    I’ve got original Hot Tubes.

I can post gut shots later if you want ( don’t have other pictures atm)

As for the pedal, I think it’s great and it’s probably one of my favorite pedals. It have really sweet and warm tone. Could be a very light overdrive and could be a beast combined with an overdriven amp.

I’ve used it for years with my JCM800 2203 and it was the only pedal that could really volume boost that MV head.

This guy is using it as a mastering box :

“…I use the Hot Tubes as a kind of mastering box, for pianos, anything digital that sounds a bit plasticky goes through it.”

A mastering box? Very interesting and creative. I like the idea. Makes me want to try mastering a track using the reissue Black Finger and Hot Tubes.

do you have blueberry cheesecake in your starbucks over there? I love that stuff!!!

I’ll have to give that a try. We rarely go to Starbucks because our favorite spot for coffee is Panera Bread on Lake Eola. It’s just a few blocks away from our place. Here are some more photos to entice you to get over here and visit:

The Tone Wicker is more than just your ordinary Muff. Yes, this thing will eat the Rat for breakfast and digest it to a harmonically designed distortion box…. Very cool.

    Haha!

I know that there’s lots of RAT love amongst us, but I’ll take any EHX pedal over a RAT any day! I can’t wait to play through one of these babies.

That is so groovy  I would expect to see that on the West Coast, but in NYC? Gotta appreciate that!
