Thought I should post this – seems to be the most current wishlist.
Fender&EHX4everModeratorI have a catalog that I’m pretty sure was printed in 1978 (newsprint, with EH in blue against a black background, and a micro synthesizer ad on the back), and the Deluxe Memory Man in the catalog was already the 5 knob version with modulation. So I would guess that the 4 knob versions were discontinued by 1978 at the latest.
Fender&EHX4everModeratorGreat thread!
These are some photos from my last 2 gigs in October. Gigs are pretty rare these days, but these 2 were a blast! My old band from my high school and university years reformed after a 15 year absence for our 20 year high school reunion.
I look forward to playing with these guys again, but I’d sure like to have a more regular gig.
Fender&EHX4everModeratorYour BMP collection will begin rival Mascis’
Let’s keep talking about the Deluxe Big Muff Pi.
Which one did you buy? The one with the Blend switch? or the Parallel/Series switch?
I haven’t used mine for a couple of months now, but I really love it. It sounds awesome. I’ve just been using my Ronsound modded BMP lately instead.

Fantastic, mate! You’re the best!
I’ll keep my eye on that one today. It would be nice to keep the MMDRS as stock as possible.
I’ve been Googling as much info as I can find about this amp, and the reviews on it have been overwhelmingly positive. Everyone says that it’s surprisingly loud for its size. Most are saying that the tone is great, and that this amp is a real overlooked gem. Seriously, how could you not love an amp with a built in vintage Small Stone phaser?
Fender&EHX4everModeratorQuote:Because of the word ‘flanger’ i seem to have overlooked the hoax until now (i’m not a fan of flangers for some reason), but now i definitely want to check it outYes, I’m using the Flanger Hoax more and more for my phaser needs. You can get the most unique phaser sounds that no other device could ever replicate – very luscious!

I remember the auction that had a BIN of 1499.99. I don’t think anyone bought it. The seller said that it was first owned by Adrian Belew, but there was no evidence. However, it was in pristine condition with the original box, manual, and registration card.
Fender&EHX4everModeratorQuote:You shouldn’t prejudice yourself against boutique effects. Some of it is overhyped and overpriced. But some of those guys make really great stuff.
I’m prejudiced against any effect that isn’t electro-harmonix
Okay, not entirely. I own a few other brands, but they make up less than 25% of my effects.
The ZVEX lofi-loop junky and the fuzz factory are the only boutique pedals I currently own. Both are insane little boxes that can do some really versatile things. I would recommend them highly.

Yes, it’s the only pedal that I feel justified in keeping 3 of them.
They all sound a bit diiferent from one and other I bet. That’s the beauty!
Yes, they do sound different, but for good reasons.
V.1 is ~1977 blueface 4 knob version using the Reticon chips. Almost a different beast entirely from the DMM we know today.
V.2 is ~1979 blueface 5 knob version. This is my favorite one – minimal noise, great clarity in the repeats, and the modulation is lovely.
V.3 is ~Nineties blackface version with the built in power cable. When I first got this one, it barely reached 400ms delay time. I sent it to Howard Davis to have it modded for 500+ms. It’s a bit noisy in the higher delay settings, but it’s a great unit.

Aha, so it wasn’t Marty_11000s to begin with
Fender&EHX4everModeratorQuote:Quote:Thanks for the thread!
And are there any blank knob layout pics for EHX pedals, ‘cos it would be cool to have lots of them around to write down settings…I’ve seen Flanger Hoax templates before, I think in that thread

Fender&EHX4everModeratorQuote:interesting, can anyone confirm that the original is 6 stage?I had a two stage phaser once and it was very cool….and yeah, I have no idea what it means!!
This site claims that it is: http://www.fenderrhodes.com/cgi-bin/products-display?id=5
Howard Davis designed the circuit, so he’d be able to tell us for certain.
Fender&EHX4everModeratorInteresting. I read somewhere that Mike Biegel had a hand in designing it; but I don’t know for sure. He designed the original Mu-Tron envelope filter, the Q-Tron series, and the Bi-Filter.
Fender&EHX4everModeratorQuote:Plus it doesn’t use a delay IC that’ll eventually go bad.So should we be stocking up on Reticons and Panasonics? I hate to think that my time-based EHX boxes will be dead in the coming years 😥
