I have these 2, but I’m not sure I love one more than the other. I would have a very tough time selling off either one.

I’ll be sending mine in soon as well. They’ll still work on pedals that are out of warranty. Here’s the email I received about the mod:

“All of the last 16 second delay units have shipped with the modified software to allow the 4 beat count in to be disabled. For those of you who have the first generation reissues you can send in your units for the upgrade.

We charge a flat fee of $35 to do this. The upgrade consists of a software patch which will allow the user to disable the 4 beat count in. Once this is done the loop ends when you want it to and not at a predetermined time. But if you need the 4 beat count in enabled again you just need to reset the unit with a few settings.”

I also bought one of these a few weeks ago. But in my opinion, the speaker is quite essential for the sound. So, try to get that greenback! What speaker does your amp hold now?

When it arrived in the mail, I immediately had to leave town for the holidays, so I haven’t had a chance to even open the box yet. I’ll let you know when I get back in the New Year.

Cool! How do you like the Hot Tubes?
I used to have the Holier Grail, but I sold it off and bought the Holy and Holiest Grails. I do miss the gate on the Holier Grail 😥 That was a really cool feature. I might have to pick one up again some day.

d’you know if there’s any difference between the old and the new ones? are they like the DMMs where the new are better than the old?

    (thanks by the way)

I have a 1979 era DMM that absolutely blows away all other DMMs I’ve tried, including the newest ones. The noise level is lower, the repeats are crisp, and the modulation is clear. And the preamp is better.

I also have a 1979 era DEM that still uses the Reticon chips, and it sounds great.

Vintage isn’t always better than new, but the reverse is also true with analog EHX stuff. Not sure why that is, but every unit seems to have its own personality – for better of for worse.

Yes, the Mistress is lovely. My avatar is my 18v.

can you use any random 18v adapter with that one????

I’m using an original EHX vintage power supply, and it says 20mA output. Not sure if that makes a big difference or not.

Thus far, I’m looking at a Hazarai, a Worm, a Tube Zipper, and a Holy Grail, in that order of importance. Anything I’m missing?

That’s a killer combo there :rawk:

The Worm is one of my favorite boxes ever, but the old unit is tricky and high maintenance (I haven’t tried the new XO version yet).

You have to LOVE it to want to keep it. First of all, it has a tendency to hiss like a cobra, especially in Phaser mode. I’ve been able to reduce the hiss by moving it around in different places in the signal chain, but it’s never completely gone. Placing an EQ after it helps so you can cut the frequencies around 8khz. Also, if your pickups are really hot, the Worm has a tendency to clip, especially in the wah mode. Placing a compressor before it will take care of that.

Once you’ve taken care of those issues, the Worm will be your warm analog friend that puts a groovy vibe on everything.

Otherwise, if you’re looking for an easier path, go with a Pulsar and a Small Stone. I’d recommend the Wiggler, but those can be much pricier than the aforementioned, unless you find one used. They sound excellent, and have a very vintage tone if that’s what you like.

The Germanium OD has really crept up on everyone. I believe it’s going to be one of EHX’s most overlooked but classic boxes.

We need to see EHman’s list. Come on, EHman, you have to have an inventory list somewhere?

I think you’ve pretty much said it all. Now get yourself a Super Replay.

I’ve yet to see one on eBay. They must be rare as hens’ teeth.

How much play do you get out of that?

That’s some crazy overhead for street gigging.

For sure. That’s not very ‘green.’
