This is what you are looking for. The original ’78 Deluxe Memory Man units have no modulation, and about 400ms of analog delay.
I just made this soundclip of mine: http://soundclick.com/share?songid=7213766
Fender&EHX4everModeratorQuote:@Fender&EHX4ever;and Ned Flanders:Did you fix the volumedrop on your Small Stones?
Mine never had a volume drop issue; but I’ve heard from many people that this is a common problem. So many variables come into play with different guitar rigs – different pickups, different cables, different power supply configurations, not to mention completely different effects sequences. All these can contribute to the issue. I run into this problem with my Flanger Hoax. The volume drops in some configurations, and doesn’t in others. It clips when I use high gain humbuckers, and doesn’t when I use low output single-coils. I solve this issue using 2 different compressors – the White Finger and the Black Finger. They are sequenced to solve my volume and clipping issues.

.😆
Pwnd by EHman.
I have that same version of Small Stone.
Fender&EHX4everModeratorQuote:The Electric Mistress was the first EH pedal I bought so it’s got a special place in my heart . Since SAD 1024 chips are extremely expensive IF you can find them at all I’ll be OK if one of them dies. They all sound different even the ones that are made the same year and has the same board version.I love the Electric Mistress also. At one point I had the 18v, the 9v, and a vintage Deluxe Electric Mistress at the same time; but I sold off the 9v 😥 I agree, they all sound very different. The 18v is super crisp with a lot of treble, and the vintage Deluxe is much fatter with a lot of bass. Both are perfect for different applications.
How do you like the Talking Pedal. Those are super-rare.
Fender&EHX4everModeratorI understand and respect why EHX need to capture the larger market of pedal buyers who prefer compact pedals that use negative tip power supplies and batteries; though like you, I also prefer the large bent steel enclosures. The XO diecast enclosures don’t excite me either. We’re vintage enthusiasts, and that market is pretty narrow.
However, I consider the Stereo Memory Man with Hazarai and the Germanium OD to be classic pedals regardless of their format. Someday, those will likely be sought after by vintage enthusiasts of the future.
Fender&EHX4everModeratorMy Crash Pad arrived today. So far, so good. Sounds really cool through an Electric Mistress and a Deluxe Memory Man.

Bigger photo plz!
Fender&EHX4everModeratorQuote:mine came from MI.hmm.
lemme know how yours works.
I’ll definitely get back with you.
Fender&EHX4everModeratorQuote:Hi guys,I have both the reissue and a vintage Polychorus. Don’t even bother trying the current models’ settings as they don’t match up at all. Even the knobs are moved around.
Good news though. I just picked up a copy of the instructions for the original unit. When I get the chance I’ll certainly scan/PDF/post them somewhere.
PS: Anyone have a copy of the alignment procedure for the old Polychorus/Echoflanger?
I have the PolyFlange, which I believe is the same circuit as the vintage PolyChorus and Echoflanger, just different paintjob.
The trimpots were completely off on mine when it arrived. I was able to align them by ear. If you do it this way, I would recommend recording a simple 4 bar loop, then feeding it into the unit while adjusting the trimpots. I optimized the trimpots for the chorus first, then the flanger. If I optimize them for the double track mode, I found that I would set the delay time trimpot too high for the chorus, because I don’t like hearing too much delay in my chorus effect. There’s a happy medium in there somewhere. BTW, the delay time trimpot is the one furthest the bottom left of the board if you are looking at the board from the bottom.
Fender&EHX4everModeratorQuote:you get it from the same crazy dude on ebay?I hope not. Mine is coming from Michigan.
Fender&EHX4everModeratorQuote:ahhhh, I see……..that’s kinda weird, but cool…so on the phaser you would actually be controling the phase itself.….mmmmm, record into hazari, loop….and you could have all sorts of rhythmic modulation patterns….tap in time to drums, bingo…rhythmic phaser and wah sounds!!!!
Thus why I’ve adored this pedal for a long time :thumb: It’s pretty unique.
Fender&EHX4everModeratorThe expression pedal allows you to control the range knob. That’s all it is. If you set the switch to manual, then the rate knob is disabled, and the range knob acts similar to the filter matrix on an Electric Mistress – like an EQ.
So when in manual tremelo mode, the expression pedal almost acts like a volume pedal.
In manual phaser mode, the expression pedal acts like one of these: http://www.bostonguitar.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=BGWI&Product_Code=VE-EH-BAD-STONE&Category_Code=VE-EH
In manual vibrato mode, the expression pedal acts like a very, very subtle whammy down (pitch shifting only by a microtone)Fender&EHX4everModeratorThe Black Finger is to my pedal board what white paint is to painters – not very exciting, but hard to imagine painting without it.
Fender&EHX4everModeratorThe Flanger Hoax, HOG, the Holiest Grail, the Stereo Memory Man with Hazarai, and the Germ OD are my favorite releases since the tube series. 3 out of 5 are digital.
However, I would love to see a tube powered rotary speaker, and a tube powered cassette-tape delay/modulator
