Conte does the best videos ever.
I love EHX filter effects. I’m conflicted though – I already have an older Q-tron+, a vintage Zipper, and a Tube Zipper. And eventually I’m going to spring for a Bi-Filter. The Enigma and Riddle certainly have significant differences though. Hmmmm…
Fender&EHX4everModeratorQuote:Does anyone know where i can find a big box microsynth?I’ve checked the ebay stores and they are all XO. In the picture they are the big box ones and then i called to make sure they were and found out they were XO.
I see them on eBay all the time. http://instruments.shop.ebay.com/items/?_nkw=micro+synthesizer+harmonix+-xo&_sacat=619&_trksid=p3286.m270.l1313&_sop=10&LH_PrefLoc=2&_dmpt=Guitar_Accessories&_odkw=micro+synthesizer&_osacat=619
There’s a Bass one here as well: http://www.parkwaymusic.com/effects/effects_used_vintage.shtml
Fender&EHX4everModeratorMy earliest musical memory is of my family and me sitting around an old cassette tape recorder (circa 1972, age 2) and singing different songs. I still have the recordings.
My singing debut was with this song:
I’m a witch
Boom! Boom! (clap, clap)
I’m a witch
Boom! Boom! (clap, clap)
With a pointed hat on my head…. (hands point over head…forming a hat)
I jump on my broom (pretend to jump on broomstick)
And I sweep the sky (sweeping motion)
While children are in bed (head resting on hands)My mother always played vinyl records for me when I was a wee lad: Simon & Garfunkel, Mamas & Papas, Neil Diamond, John Denver, …
Fender&EHX4everModeratorQuote:What function(s) does the treadle control on the Talking Pedal? It seems like I read somewhere that it’s controlling 2 filters in series, like a double-wah, but I’m not certain about that. I could be dreaming, but I thought I saw a pic of the insides, and it had a dual potentiometer.
Fender&EHX4everModeratorCongrats on your new pedal!
I’m a sucker for pedals with a plethora of controls, and the Tube Zipper definitely fits that bill.
I look at it this way – EHX pedals, like the Flanger Hoax, or the HOG, or the SMMH, or the Micro Synthesizer – they are instruments in and of themselves. The more you practice with them, the more intuitive you get with them. Once you get comfortable with the interactions of the knobs, you won’t really need to write settings down anymore. You’ll be able to recall them either from memory, or by the logic of their controls.
Fender&EHX4everModeratorVery nice!
I recently paid about $220 for one of those on eBay; and like the one you have pictured, it was in excellent condition. They don’t come up very often, but when they do, the prices vary between $150 to $300.
You would think that they would be higher in value, but the Micro Synths are not among the most sought-after vintage pedals in the EHX catalog. Not sure why, because they sound amazing. I suppose if Gilmour or Cobain used one, they’d be worth twice as much.
Fender&EHX4everModeratorIs it the version with the stomp switch on the right side or left side?
The version with the switch on the left is more rare.
What’s the condition? Sliders broken?Fender&EHX4everModeratorQuote:It arrived today. Best tremolo ever indeed.Congrats!!
Yeah, the Pulsar is amazing, and different enough from the Wiggler to justivy having both.

If I didn’t already have all those pedals, your demo would have sent me directly to eBay to acquire them all.
Fender&EHX4everModeratorQuote:That all sounds good. Next question is what is the maximum 4 track recording time possible? On a 2GB card you can record 372 track minutes.
Fender&EHX4everModeratorQuote:Just snagged a Ram’s Head era Frequency Analyzer for $78…That’s an awesome deal. I paid almost twice that for mine
But it’s worth it. It has a really awesome tone, despite the volume drop. I use an old LPB-1 plug to fix the volume issue, and it works perfectly. It’s tempting to just work the LPB-1 into the box with the Freq An, but I don’t want to devalue either unit, and space is not an issue with me.
Fender&EHX4everModeratorI just picked up a 2880 in a killer BIN deal.
It doesn’t have a delay line, per se. If you play a measure, and then stop it, it will continue looping, and you can play over it. You can adjust the feedback so that the previous loop gradually fades out each time it repeats, or you can keep it constant.
I foresee that the 2880 will probably replace my Fostex MR8 as my 4 track recorder for direct guitar parts. I’ll hold onto my MR8, though, because I like the fact that it can be battery-powered, and it has XLR inputs for vox, drums, and amps. But the 2880 is so simple to use, and it exports .wav files through USB to my MacBook.
Fender&EHX4everModeratorI have one too. It’s my favorite generation of the DMMs. Judging by the look of the circuit board, I’m guessing that it’s one of the earliest generations of the 5knob DMMs, if not the first.
Like your description, mine also has very strong modulation and a longer delay time. Mine does not have any leakage problems, but it does have the standard unity gain problem – that is, the bypass is always louder than the engaged signal.
Fender&EHX4everModeratorI just got a 2880, so this is relevant to my interests.
When is EHX going to release a reissue of the DRM series with MIDI? I want it to sync with my 2880 and my 16SecDD, and I want it to have samples from the DRM-32, the Space Drum, the Clap Track, the Sonic Boomer, the Rolling Thunder, and the Panic Button.
