Dear EHX,
Please, please, please re-release the Mini-Mixer so it can be used with an iPhone or iPod. It could be called the Nano-Mixer
This would be really forward-thinking.
It should include a minimum of these features:
1. pocket-size and battery operated, with an option to power off of a USB port
2. 1/4″ headphone jack and level control
3. at least 2 channels (one with a 1/4″ input, and one with an XLR input), level knob, pan knob, and clip indicator
4. stereo RCA inputs for monitoring from the iPod
5. mono RCA output to send to the iPod
6. master level knob
7. EQ would be cool, but not if it takes away from the portability. Flat response is fine.Fender&EHX4everModeratorI’ve bid on quite a few of those on ebay, but never won one. I ended up buying a Pigtronix Mothership, which has quenched my Deluxe Octave Multiplexer desires for now. It would be fun to compare the two in a shootout. Both were designed by Howard Davis.
Fender&EHX4everModeratormelx suggested using one of these portable mixers to hook into the iPod sound port with the RCA cable: http://www.rolandus.com/products/productdetails.php?ProductId=862&ParentId=114
Fender&EHX4everModeratorQuote:Thanks for the quick reply. Wow…135 seems pretty cheap for such a jewel I definately wouldn’t sell it for that cheap. What is NOS btw? I will try to post some pics soon. Do you experience with this particular version? Whenever I turn the feedback know past 12 o’clock it oscillates so much I fear my amp will explode lol. Is this normal?NOS = new old stock, vintage units that were never sold and sat in surplus. These usually fetch the highest prices because they are usually in pristine condition, despite being 25+ years old.
Yes, I’ve owned at least 3 or 4 of the 4-knob DMM models, but I currently have only one. It is normal for them to self-oscillate at noon on the feedback knob. This is the reason why they added the Squelch switch, to reduce the tendency. The 4-knob DMM is a very noisy and lofi model, which is simulataneously its charm and its downfall. Most people don’t want their echoes to sound quite that dirty, so the only musicians who buy them are usually enthusiasts or experimentalists.
Here are a couple of demos I recorded using the 4 knob DMM. This should give you a basis for comparison:

Fender&EHX4everModeratorThere haven’t been any sold on eBay in the last month, so I don’t see any completed listings. In general with EHX vintage gear, the prices vary quite a bit, depending on many factors – condition of the unit, if it’s NOS, feedback of the seller, international shipping availability, trends, seasons, etc.
My guess is that a functioning vintage 4-knob DMM can pull anywhere from $150 to $350, depending on those factors.

Anyone else tried this yet?
The sound quality is what you would expect; but for composing drafts, I’m pretty astonished. I tried GigBaby! also, but the latency against the metronome was dismal. I hope they get that updated out.
I haven’t played with RiffWorld yet, but it’s on the list of things to do.
Add to all of this one of these, and I’m ready to head out to the French countryside and write my next album.
Fender&EHX4everModeratorQuote:Memory Boy:
-what does the expression mode control? The chorus/vibrato knob on the original dmm can produce some crazy pitch shifting on the repeats, so maybe that’s what the expression input controls.
Fender&EHX4everModeratorOMG!!!!
These look fabulous. I am going to be so completely broke this Fall.
The graphics on the Cathedral are gorgeous!!! And stereo inputs too.
And the Memory Boy looks astonishing.
This is killing me, or at least my savings.
Fender&EHX4everModeratorThey don’t look original, but EHX used more than a few different knob-types back in the Seventies, so it isn’t impossible that they’re original, but not likely. Those look like stereo knobs.
My old 18v Electric Mistress also has the pots set in 3 different directions, so 50% ends being 9:00, 12:00, and 3:00 respectively. Pretty hilarious design. I think that’s normal for some of those older units.
Fender&EHX4everModeratorLatest ebay sales seem to go from $200 to $500
Fender&EHX4everModeratorI had the Tube EQ for several months, but finally sold it to fund another purchase.
The wah was very unique sounding and had a massively long sweep. I found it to sound more like a synth filter than a traditional sounding wah, which is not a bad thing unless you want a traditional sounding wah.

I started a thread a few months ago about combining the Instant Replay, Clockworks, DRM series, and all the triggered drums into one box. That is a reissue that would send me into the stratosphere.
Most importantly, it should have MIDI so you can sync it with your 16 Second Digital Delay, or your 2880. It should have factory preset sounds from the vintage units, plus the ability to sample your own. It should have pitch control for the sample, sensitivity control for the CV input, and the ability to program your own rhythms using a very simple interface like the Clockworks.
Tell me that would not be the bee’s knees.
Fender&EHX4everModeratorTry it in front of a wah or a phaser  Muffs always sound great with filters, IMO.
Fender&EHX4everModeratorQuote:maybe just maybetube maze = XO solid state tube zipper
and that’s why you weren’t allowed to see it
A solid state pedal be called a “Tube” Maze? I suppose the Hot “Tubes” was solid state before, so maybe it’s not such a stretch.
