I don’t think the Germ OD was ever intended to be a high gain pedal with sustain. It’s more of a boost pedal that pushes your amp a bit for some added crunch and dirt. The ability to starve the voltage is a bonus missing from most boost pedals of this nature, and adds a bit of crackly fizz to the tone. I would appreciate it as such, and try not to think of it as a distortion or fuzz.
Fender&EHX4everModeratorI didn’t check to see if anyone mentioned this already, but there is a trimpot inside that allows you to adjust the depth of the modulation. If your unit sounds too seasick for your taste, try adjusting the trimpot clockwise a bit.
Fender&EHX4everModeratorLIke an XO 2880?
BTW, the 2880 kicks ass, so just get one of those.
Fender&EHX4everModeratorA faulty power supply? Can you test it?
October 1, 2009 at 1:24 am in reply to: EHX PLEASE MAKE A NICE AND AFFORDABLE VIBE PEDAL!!!!!! #101947Fender&EHX4everModeratorThe Wiggler is probably the closest thing to a vibe that EHX makes, but it doesn’t have treadle control over the rate. So yeah, I agree, that would be a cool thing for EHX to release. Better yet, I would like to see EHX make a real tube powered rotating speaker cabinet with a treadle that accelerates the motor speed
September 30, 2009 at 2:08 am in reply to: Anyone know how to lower the volume of a V.1 Micro-Synthesizer? #101910Fender&EHX4everModeratorI’ve got a v.1 also, and mine doesn’t have a volume issue. I haven’t looked to see if there’s a trimpot for the gain on it yet, but I’ve adjusted the trimpot on my reissue before with success.
You might also consider the Signal Pad.
Fender&EHX4everModeratorQuote:Quote:Are you using the power supply provided by EHX?Yes, definitely! Could it be a voltage thing?
Well, probably not if you are using the dedicated PS. The manual does say to allow the unit to warm up, but a few minutes should be plenty.
I would call customer support and arrange to have it fixed. Mine doesn’t do that.

Fender&EHX4everModeratorQuote:Anyone with one of these fine wahs (especially the fuzz/wah) want to make a bass demo?I try to get one together for you this week. I think the Crying Tone will sound great with a bass guitar.
Fender&EHX4everModeratorQuote:It definitely would! Its a great sounding mic preamp.I can’t wait to get one. Right now I’m using a Presounus Bluetube DP, which is pretty good for a budget 2 channel preamp, but the tube feature is kind of a bogus gimmick. All I hear is a bit of grainy distortion added to the signal when the tube is introduced. The bulk of the signal is still solid state. IIRC, the EHX Mic Pre’s signal path is entirely tube driven  I’m hoping it will complement my RODE NTK nicely.
Fender&EHX4everModeratorI’ll bet this sounds great before the BlackFinger:
Fender&EHX4everModeratorQuote:Do you have a copy of the manual EHXfenderforever? what cool settings have you found with it and what distortion pedal do you use with yours?Hi Tim!
Here’s the setting I use to get an early 80s Electric Mistress type chorus (think Police or Pink Floyd). The blend switch is on, btw.
Unfortunately, I do not have a copy of the manual. Also, I rarely ever use chorus or flanger with a distortion pedal. I’m more likely to overdrive a vintage amp for a bit of dirt. But I might use a fuzz pedal, like Big Muff Pi or a Fuzz Factory, along with a slower pitch-bending flange setting.
Fender&EHX4everModeratorYou can probably dial in a decent chorus on the Toy, but the oscillation rate and depth are fixed. If that doesn’t bother you, then go with the Toy. If you use more chorus than delay, and you want a more flexible chorus sound, go with the Clone.
Fender&EHX4everModeratorQuote:The Color switch on the v1 Bad Stone — the weird mummy face one — switches between a pitch shift vibrato and more of a chorus setting a bit like a leslie or a vibe. A lot of early phasers used that sort of terminology — my old Jen Motorphaser specifically calls them Tremolo (which is fast, like a Leslie) and Chorus (which is slow, like a vibe).Wow, really? That seems peculiar. Why have a continuous rate pot AND a toggle switch for 2 fixed rates? (more of a rhetorical question) That seems kind of obtuse.
