I live in Florida, and I’ve found my Memory Boy to be sensitive to temperature changes.

The max delay time is longer when the temperature in my house is above about 70 degrees F.

The max delay time decreases when it falls below 60 degrees F.

This is really bizarre, but no more bizarre to me than how temperature affects Germanium transistors. I’m not too concerned about it. It beats having to change the tape loop.

it’s not temperature changes, more likely fluctuations in your power grid.

I’m not entirely convinced. The occurence has a happened a few times now, which seems too often to be a coincidence.

I just picked up an Octave Multiplexer treadle a couple of months ago. It needs a bit of TLC, but when it is working correctly it sounds great!

they were using the mn3005 again in 2008 and the XO’s have mn3008, so the fact of the matter is both chips were used in the ‘big box’

… and the Reticon sad1024s were used prior to the mn3005s back in the mid to late 70s.

The DMM has gone through a lot of stages in its evolution. So basically, if you like the one you have, stick with it for another 20 years, bond with it, get attached to it, get sentimental about it, and then you’ll be the guy saying, “This model has the best tone and response of all the versions.”

The expression sweep is intense on the wah and phaser. It sounds great!

The XO Worm is one of the best XO boxes IMO. I would’ve kept mine, but I already have an original Worm, and I needed the $ for something else. I’ll probably pick another one someday when I’m not so strapped.

I just received my .22 Caliber this week, but I haven’t had a lot of time to play with it yet. So far I’ve only plugged direct into it with an 8″ stock Fender speaker, and it sounded pretty damn good. The cleans were not noisy, and it gave a pleasing crunch when cranked. I’ll report more later when I’ve had more time with it.

22 watts alone is not enough for clean headroom if you are playing with a LOUD ROCK ensemble. If it was a Jazz quartet or Lounge act, it might work out okay.

    Indeed.

Hendrix is the epitome of the electric guitar, as if he was born with it attached to his body.

I have most of his albums, and as much as I love Hendrix, I really don’t listen to his music that often anymore. His songwriting, sense of melody and harmony, and singing are far less epic than his guitar playing. When it all adds up, I’m usually in the mood to listen to something else because I don’t always listen to music just for the guitar playing.

Edge. Andy Summers. Robin Guthrie. Kevin Shields. Archer Prewitt. – guitarists who approach their art more like landscape painting.

I also love the fancier finger-work of Lindsay Buckingham, James Honeyman-Scott, and Elliot Easton.

I have been thinking of “if it has stereo outs, why not stereo ins” a while. I don’t get it. It’s nonsense not having stereo I/Os. A more exagerated project would be stereo every pedal, so if you like having your wah (?) last on the chain you can do so.

Apparently EHX were listening to this thread, because the Cathedral has stereo ins. I’ve been resisting, but eventually I will have a Cathedral.

This thread has reached its conclusion, but I’ll post my .02 anyways.

In the past, I’ve modded a few vintage or older pedals for true bypass. Like Liberty Belle, I purchased them to keep and to be used, so I wanted them to be functional for me, not ornaments for collection.

Since then, I’ve purchased a Carl Martin Octaswitch so I can bypass them in loops, like devnulljp mentioned, and not have to bother with true bypass mods anymore. I think this is probably the most convenient route to take with vintage gear if you…

    1) have the $ to spend on a bypass system,
    2) have no issues with taking up pedalboard real estate,
    3) want to avoid modding vintage pedals,
    4) want to avoid unnecessarily long signal paths between your guitar and amp.

But I have no qualms with modding vintage pedals if it’s my only option for making it functional for me to use.
