I love a lot of different cheeses, though cow dairy is not the healthiest or environmentally friendly nourishment on the planet.

My favorite cheeses are French. Generally speaking for my tastes, the stinkier it is, the tastier it is.

Do any of you know any Australian members who own a 2880, Holiest Grail or a HOG?
Maybe I could get them to buy it on my behalf if they still have the receipt!

IIRC, SupremePancake is from OZ. I’m pretty sure he has a HOG.

I would add that these bands have this much in common:

-They either started with CREATION RECORDS, or 4AD in the late 80s
-They have all cited the following as influences: Jesus & Mary Chain, Cocteau Twins, Sonic Youth, Dinosaur Jr.

A few essential shoegaze pedals would include: BOSS PN-2, BOSS HM-2, Vox Wah, and EHX Small Stone

4 Holier Grail units, and no Cathedrals. Interesting. I’m surprised that the Cathedral didn’t include the gate feature. That certainly makes the Holier a special unit.

Wasn`t HCFX a kind of role-model for this E-H forum?
and would this E-H forum have happened without HCFX?

Lots of spillover, for sure. I love HCFX at times, but most of the time it’s filled with annoying blather. I appreciate this forum’s tendency to stay on topic and focus deeper on a question.

Haha, I like the analogy; but more like English Pubs since you don’t have to be 21 to enter.

As far as other EHX distortion pedals go, I think the distortion tone on the Holy Stain had good definition. For the price, the size, and the extra bells and whistles, it’s definitely worth checking out.

I have the Hot Tubes. I’ve never tried the Muff’n.

One of the major differences is that the Hot Tubes uses a paracyclic filter instead of a traditional EQ section like the Muff’n. With a paracyclic filter, you don’t need a Mid frequency control. The Treble and Bass knobs interact with each other to create mid range frequency boosts, much like a wah filter. So the Hot Tubes’ strength is with creating very throaty, mid-rangey, cocked-wah tones.

If you are looking for a crisp, high-gain, modern sounding distortion, I don’t really recommend the Hot Tubes.

Here’s a soundclip I did comparing a Hot Tubes, a Deluxe Big Muff Pi, and a Germanium OD. Listen if you can guess which of the 3 is used in each section:

    Are you input/output cables reversed?

Sorry if that’s a stupid question, but I’ve done that on more than one occasion 😮

Iggy & The Stooges > Iggy Pop in the 80s
    Bob Mould > Blowoff

Bowie is the Godfather of this aesthetic.

I bought my Deluxe Electric Mistress from them. They are legit, and ship fast too.

so yes i am the guy sayin my version of the deluxe memory man is the best sounding, because it is, in my opinion, and isn’t that what “review your ehx gear” is about, your opinion of your gear?

    Indeed. I wasn’t criticizing.

I have 3 different generations of the DMM, though I don’t think any of them have the 3008s. The 4 knob version is a completely different delay from the other later 2. But the other 2 also have subtle nuances that make them different.

How do you reach the hog presets? 😆 and I see a SS backwards, which represents the same trouble

Totally. That pic was taken about 2 years ago. It wasn’t setup that way for very long, but it was pretty funny to look at while it was.

I’ve given up on trying to setup these massive pedal board configurations. Now I just grab a few that I feel like using at the moment, and keep the rest on the shelf.
