…if you are more My Bloody Valentine than the Beatles I’d get the PulsarI like the description, melx.
The Pulsar is probably more versatile, especially the Stereo Pulsar. It has both square and sawtooth wave options, with continuous control over ramping, rate, and depth. The tone is smooth and glossy.
The Wiggler has essentially 5 preset wave shapes with only continuously adustable rate and blend. The HAMM setting has a subtle hint of pitch vibrato. The LOOZ setting is very phasey. But the tubes sound so damn good – grainy, woody, wholesome.
Fender&EHX4everModeratorMy favorite guitar of all time is my first guitar – an ’83 USA Fender s-3 Bullet. Not because it’s really the greatest, it’s just because it was my first guitar, and I’ve had it since I was 13. It just feels right to me, like an old friend.
As for guitars with cool factor?
I love my Vox Ultra-Sonic. I also love my RI Fender Mustang.
If I had an unlimited budget, I would probably buy a vintage 50s Tele.
Fender&EHX4everModeratorThere is an internal trimpot that you can adjust to make the triggering more or less sensitive. I have 2 microsynths – one set for low output pickups, and another set for high output pickups.
Fender&EHX4everModeratorI have some vintage boxes that need an extra push because of volume drop. An LPB-1 or LPB-2 do a fine job for little $ .

Nice!
If you sell on eBay, you can probably get more for it if you appeal to all the Cobain fans out there. That’s the same unit he used on In Utero, and it is considerably different from the Reissue Stereo PolyChorus. The circuits are quite different. For starters, the vintage unit used the Reticon IC instead of the Panasonic.
I’ve seen these vintage units go for anywhere from $150 to $250. International shipping increases your chances of getting a better price, since vintage EHX is not easy to find outside the US.
Fender&EHX4everModeratorQuote:First of all, thanks to everyone for the suggestions/advice. I’ve been checking out the various EH delay pedals, and some of the reviews of the Memory Man w/Hazarai say that it kills tone. Is that true? I’m still trying to decide which one to get – Memory Man, Memory Boy, Memory Toy, etc. I’m also thinking about waiting until the Deluxe Memory Boy comes out next month. Any thoughts?I’ve heard people say that about the Haz, but I’ve never noticed it myself. I use a lot of vintage pedals, so I don’t even take that stuff into consideration anymore. My solution is the Carl Martin Octaswitch. That saves me the hassle of worrying over signal degradation.
Fender&EHX4everModeratorI think we have another Keane EHX sighting here:

Big Muff with Tone Wicker?
Fender&EHX4everModeratorSweet! Both my wife and I really like that print.
Reminds of the joke: “There are only 10 types of people who understand binary; those who do, and those who don’t.”
Fender&EHX4everModeratorYou could always get a bigger board and wait for the Deluxe Memory Boy.
Fender&EHX4everModeratorIf your unit is feeding back, it could be that you have the color knob set too high.
Fender&EHX4everModeratorWhich version are you using? Pics?
Fender&EHX4everModeratorThere is definitely some noticeable latency in the HOG, but I’ve yet to hear a pitch shifter pedal that tracks better than the HOG. It just seems to come with the territory.
I usually place the HOG close to the front of the signal chain. IMO, it sounds best when used in front of distortion, fuzz, chorus, phase shifting, delay, or reverb. Those effects tend to round out the tonality of the pitch shifting.
If you watch Bill Rupperts Effectology videos, you’ll notice that he rarely if ever uses the HOG without some sort of modulation or time based effects. I think the PolyChorus or the Deluxe Electric Mistress in particular sound great after the HOG.
Fender&EHX4everModeratorTypically I place mine after compression, and before modulation/delay/reverb.
Fender&EHX4everModeratorThe BlackFinger or the WhiteFinger.
Fender&EHX4everModeratorQuote:Hi,
reviving this thread again, as i’m in the same dilemma – chosing POG2 or HOG.
I use the Digitech Whammy for Octave bends a lot and i’ve seen vids, which made me believe, that the HOG could do this even better and a lot more!
A few questions to HOG users or staff:1. The attack sliders of the HOG produce a volume swell sound like in the POG2 ?! slow AND fast?
Yes, there is an attack envelope to do swells. The swell time is less than a second, but long enough to do convincing string instruments.
2. Is there any other chance of getting and dialing in presets than to get the (very expensive) 6xfootswitch (i saw/read, that it’s plugged in via a normal 1/4″ jack, could you use just a normal footswitch to switch from preset to preset?) ?
No. The HOG footswitch has a circuit. Each switch sends a unique signal to the HOG to trigger its preset memory.
3. do you think or know – will there be a HOG2 in a smaller housing and maybe with a kind of hazarai switch like on the SMMH or the POG2 ?
A few months ago one of the EHX staff said that it was unlikely that we’d see an XO HOG, but who really knows? Personally, I like the large format of the HOG. It gives it more of a synthesizer feel, and it makes the controls easier to manipulate in real time
4. is it very hard to deal with the HOG in regards of volume differences from setting to setting?
No. There is an output level slider.
