I love my Muff Fuzz Crying Tone:
Here’s my demo: http://soundclick.com/share?songid=7468131
Fender&EHX4everModeratorI find my vintage Black Finger to be less useful as a compressor than as a sustainer for monophonic leads and melody lines. As EHman said, it is noisy, especially with chord work.
I like placing in front of a Big Muff Pi, or a Frequency Analyzer.
Fender&EHX4everModeratorI use this simple tube tester just to test for shorts and emissions. I bought it on eBay for about $40.
If you use a lot of gear with tubes in it (like me), it’s worth the investment.
Fender&EHX4everModeratorThose trimpots probably need adjusting to get rid of the distortion or high pitched clock noise. Sometimes even adjusting them will not entirely remove the clock noise. Those old Stereo Memory Man units can be problematic.
Fender&EHX4everModeratorQuote:Thanks! Who knows? everything is possible on E(vil)Bay.com. I think I will keep mine to my self.Good plan :thumb:
I have the vintage PolyFlange, which is the same as yours, just a different painjob really. They don’t appear on eBay very often anymore, and they really do behave differently than the new reissues. The reissue kills in stereo, but I think the vintage units sound better in a mono setup.
Fender&EHX4everModerator$160 for the reissue really is a great deal. I’d snag it. It’s a fantastic pedal.
Fender&EHX4everModeratorAs already stated, if you are expecting each mode to have a lot of flexibility, you will be disappointed.
I love the Worm because the phaser, the vibrato, and the modulated wah modes sound really delicious – very thick, very vintage vibe, and very analog.
I think a lot of people are disappointed expecting it to be more over-the-top. But its strength is that it adds just a touch of texture to your sound. Great for blues, 70s classic rock, funk, and retro stuff in general. It’s not an avant-garde pedal, folks.
Fender&EHX4everModeratorI have 2 of these 18v EMs. Love ’em like crazy!!!
Fender&EHX4everModeratorI just had another fabulous customer service experience with Electro-Harmonix.
I sent in my 16 Second Digital Delay Reissue to have the modification to the Course slider, and also to have a repair done because the slider tip had broken off.
The cost was minimal, and the turnaround was super-fast. My phone contact got in touch with me quickly and was very friendly and helpful.
Cheers to EHX !!!
Fender&EHX4everModeratorHello Heinz,
The Deluxe Electric Mistress will be the better choice for getting Police chorus tones. Andy Summers used the original 18v Electric Mistress, but the Deluxe gets close enough. Both of those are analog. The Stereo Electric Mistress is digital.
Fender&EHX4everModeratorAs with all vintage EHX, you’ll probably get more for it if you sell worldwide. Beyond that, it’s really tough to put a price range on it. I think you’ll definitely get more than $150 USD for it, but I can’t imagine anyone shelling out $400 for one – but who knows. You might catch someone on the right day.
Fender&EHX4everModeratorQuote:the compressor was going in parallel with the fuzz so you could blend the clean signalI have the later version with the Series/Parallel switch, which allows you to put the compressor in front of the fuzz for super-long sustain. I like it much, much, much better than running it in parallel.
I can’t say that it’s one of my favorite EHX vintage pedals. It’s cool, but not cooler than the vintage PolyPhase, the Muff Fuzz Crying Tone, or a vintage Electric Mistress.
Fender&EHX4everModeratorI love the T-shirt 😆
I look forward to the day I can have a display cabinet for mine too.
Fender&EHX4everModeratorWow! Very cool!
There was a super twin reverb on eBay recently. I was outbid on it 😥 It was the first time i’d ever seen one. How do they sound?
