Fender&EHX4everModeratorI’m not sure, but I did just see this if you’re looking for one:

Fender&EHX4everModeratorI use the EHX stock and vintage Sylvanias in the 2 Black Finger units I have.
But I’ve also tried Groove Tubes, and they made the most dramatic difference. They really laid on the compression thick. Very cool choice of tubes if you want your Black Finger to get into DynaComp or White Finger territory.
Both the EHX and the Sylvanias are much more subtle in comparison.
Fender&EHX4everModeratorI also like it the way it is – white text on black. Uses less energy for the display, has a cooling effect, and it looks more elegant.
Fender&EHX4everModeratorQuite different IMO:
Vintage 18v EM – The pitch bend can be set more extreme than the deluxe, there is a slight volume drop when engaged, and the lower frequencies are less pronounced than the high frequencies. They use the old Reticon BBD chip. Also, it can run on batteries. Designed by Dave Cockerell.
Deluxe EM – No more volume drop, and the lower frequencies are more present than the vintage unit. The really old model still used the Reticon BBDs, but since the early 80s they switched over to the Panasonics. No battery option. However, they do have a direct output. Designed by Howard Davis.
Stereo EM – Digital circuit, and an entirely different approach using a combination of true stereo chorus and flanger in one unit. Designed by Dave Cockerell.
Fender&EHX4everModeratorQuote:Want to ensure I go about having my 1970’s 18V electric mistress flanger converted to 9V the right way, otherwise it could get a volume drop (and it already has one!), the effect might be half as pronounced or the effect might not work at all.Is the best way around this to install a voltage doubler inside the pedal? ie Hit it with 9v, through the chargepump and out comes 18v….
Any other suggestions…?I intend to have the existing volume drop fixed. the old ‘mistresses all have a terrible volume drop when the effect is on. i can’t find an internal trimpot to adjust this, the two pots i can adjust change the modulation of the effect, not volume. Otherwise the volume could be replaced with a new one of the same value, or a larger value.
What about putting another resistor in series – with the volume pot could open the pedal up volume wise. I am wary of having a boost circuit installed as i don’t want the tone of the effect changed.I have posted at diystompboxes as well.
There are 9v versions of the vintage Electric Mistress still floating around on eBay. Howard Davis reworked the circuit in the late 70s. I used to have one, and I regret selling it. It’s volume drop was less pronounced, and it sounded great.
Here’s a clip of it: http://soundclick.com/share?songid=7095553

And you have the perfect number of pedals to justify getting one of these:
June 22, 2010 at 11:02 pm in reply to: 18V Electric Mistress unity gain issue a factory standard…? What the..? #109736Fender&EHX4everModeratorYep, I have 2 of the 18v units and both have the same volume drop. Since I only use them for home recording, it’s a non-issue for me. They sure do sound beautiful.
Fender&EHX4everModeratorQuote:oh well I’ll just go to HC and do a review for customer support“It’s shite”
This is a user forum, not the official EHX Technical Support Representative. For full tech support, go to https://www.ehx.com/about/contact
Almost none of us here work for the company. We’re enthusiasts who love the products. Usually if someone knows the answer to a tech question, they’ll chime in of their own goodwill. But since almost none of us here are paid to be tech support, we hardly feel obligated to answer every question.
A big thanks to those who do.

mxr distortion 3Looks like you already have a good setup for the genres listed. Maybe a Q-tron+, Tube Zipper, or Riddle for the Funk stuff. A White Finger, Black Finger, or Soul Preacher would be good for the Worship stuff. The new Germanium Big Muff might be good with the metal / post-core stuff, though few have actually tried one.
