Will you be selling on eBay? If so, I’ll be on the lookout.

I would love to see the mode switch changed to something else, preferably the ability to save settings to patches and cycle through them. I would even settle for a switch to change between clean and dirt, but keep the other effects. I think those would be more useful for real-time operation.

But yeah, it’s a cool box.

To add sustain to the MicroSynth add a compressor pedal like the Soul Preacher.
It adds tons of sustain and evens out your picking to give it a more even keyboard attack.
Almost all the Effectology videos featuring a MicroSynth use a compressor in front of it.

Absolutely. Come to think of it, it would be interesting to see how well the Micro Synth would respond to a signal fed by The Freeze.

That sounds like the one I bought :D

I couldn’t try it yet, that’s probably something for the weekend…

Give us the report when you can :thumb:

I’d be curious to know how many SAD1024s they stuffed into it. I think the ’78 DMM uses 5.

There are actually several versions of the Micro Synthesizer since about 1978, even without including the Bass Micro Synthesizer.

But all that aside, it is true that there isn’t much sustain in them. It’s inherent in the design – the trigger sets the threshold for the signal. You might be able to maximize the sustain a bit more if you use the trimpot to tweak the input gain, but it’s a tricky balance because you also don’t want to set off false triggers.

The Micro Synthesizer is really amazing effect pedal – one of a kind – but it’s one that forces you to work with it on its own terms.

Sweet! Congrats on your new purchase.

I’ve always wondered how those V1 Memory Man units sound. Are they really noisy? Hiss? Distorted repeats? Clock whine?

My ’78 4 knob Deluxe units are pretty grungy, but I love them anyways.

I see that everyone misses something: a cassette is not a tape loop. the tape ends at some point. it would work for a fair amount of time (30 mins, but depends on the tape), but then you’ll have to flip the tape to keep using it. No big deal for me, but idk, my 2 cents

I like the idea of the Moebius tape loop (9.3 seconds) http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/Making_Cassette_Tape_Loops

And as long as the tape motor has variable speed, you could probably extend the loop time, though the fidelity would decrease – but hey, that might have a really cool sound to it.

Point is, you could do all kinds of experimentation using cassette tapes. Look how cheaply they can be purchased: http://music.shop.ebay.com/Cassettes-/1600/i.html?_trkparms=65:10|66:2|39:1&rt=nc&_nkw=cassette&_catref=1&_dmpt=Music_Cassettes&_npmv=3&_sticky=1&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_sop=15&_sc=1

You wouldn’t feel bad about messing up a loop, or changing out the tape after every performance.

I think a really important detail with this tape delay idea is that it’s another opportunity for EHX to incorporate its preamp tubes into another device — give the Fulltone TTE a bit of competition.

I haven’t seen many EchoFlangers, PolyFlanges, or vintage PolyChorus units on eBay in quite awhile. It seems like there was one every week last year.

He might’ve done the redesign when they changed the Blend switch to Series/Parallel, but my factory schematic for the Blend version has “MA” on it. Abram is also responsible for the Echoflanger.

Interesting. An Abram interview would be awesome!

To Howard’s credit, I much prefer the Series/Parallel version of the Deluxe Big Muff Pi – sustain foreverrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr…

    Hi Gang,
New to this forum. I have Electric Mistress, Small Stone, and a Holier Grail, as well as various others.
I play mainly Blues/Rock and have only been at it a couple years
    Anyway, just saying Hi

    Bill

    Hi Bill!

I have to comment that the mistress and stone are interesting selections for “Blues/Rock”. Most blues rockers typically haven’t used those since the 70s like Trower. Atypical is cool.
