When did you get another Small Stone?
You can never have too many. I have 4 or 5 vintage units and 4 or 5 Sovteks.
I don’t know.
I was thinking bout selling off all my ehx to start a line 6 collection. What do you guys think?
Fender&EHX4everModeratorYour best bet is to give them a call https://www.ehx.com/about/contact
They’ll probably fix it for you for a small fee.
Otherwise, have you looked inside to see if any wires are loose?

Fender&EHX4everModeratorQuote:Hey guysquick first post to the forum. I have a 2×10 model as well, with #4 soldiered into the circuit board. recently bought it from the guys at Rogue Music in NY
loud as heck with tonnes of punch.
in the shop right now but cant wait to get it back. Perfect for gigging.
I just picked up one of these on eBay recently. It’s in the shop right now getting the power section refurbished. I should get it by Friday. I can’t wait!!!
Fender&EHX4everModeratorQuote:Yeah, i also presumed it because as i said it’s a standard in the industry for this category of product to put in some cab-like EQing.. which down to the basics it is not rocket-science or costly, it can be done by limiting the freq into the classic guitar speaker range (not over 7/8 khz) and pushing the mid band 3-5 Khz a little..Too bad because i really like the product, it is sturdy, well built and good sounding but it is hardly limited for the purpose of listening to your pedal chain in headphones…
If I’m already playing through a pedal chain, then I’d probably just put an EQ at the end and tailor my own sim.
It would be interesting to hear the debate on which cabs should be simulated — Fender Deluxe Reverb? Vox AC 30? Marshall 1959-SLP? Orange OR120?
September 21, 2010 at 3:17 pm in reply to: Falling Back In Love: The Stereo Polychorus, Two or So Years On #111563Fender&EHX4everModeratorQuote:I love my polychorus, swapped my stereo electric mistress for it. The chorus has got to be the nicest i’ve heard and i love the self oscillation that you can get from the double track mode. I have on question though, with the flange, is it possible to get a sort of electric mistress kind of flange?Definitely. I can’t remember which direction, but the sweep filter needs to be in right position.
Fender&EHX4everModeratorA cab sim would be cool, but would also raise the price most likely.
I have the vintage unit from the early 80s. I’d be curious to know if it’s a comparable design. It’s also very clean – no amp sim either. Works great for clean or acoustic tones.
September 20, 2010 at 12:09 pm in reply to: SMMH – How to get ‘Echoplex’ and ‘Space Echo’ vintage echo sounds? #111535Fender&EHX4everModeratorYou could probably dial in something on the SMMH, then it mix it with a full band, and no one else will notice that it isn’t an echoplex or space echo. C’mon, that’s the reality with this stuff.
The difference between using a digital delay, or a tube/tape delay is largely only appreciated by the musician using it. But that’s not negligible. I think gear choices should be driven largely by what inspires us.
So if you think that you are going to be more inspired by playing through a real echoplex or space echo, then you should get one. But if you just want an approximation, and feel just as inspired with it, then the SMMH should do just fine.
As you already mentioned, just roll off a touch of the highs around 11 o’clock.
Fender&EHX4everModeratorCompressors are such misunderstood effects that can be used for much more than squashing the dynamics out of a signal. And this is a prime example of where a well- balanced limiter would be appropriate.
Fender&EHX4everModeratorQuote:Now that sounds cool! How do you handle the rest of the equipment while Golden Throating? I wanted to use one of these GTs with my Electravibe but what with two vibes mallets in each hand and a balancing act between the vibes’ expression pedal and my effect pedals I reckoned it was not worth the effort. (Not forgetting my experience trying one out with electric guitar). However, reading your post makes me think I should at least have tried once…..or maybe twice!!!!That would definitely take some practice to master.
I was watching Frampton and Joe Walsh on YouTube last night to see how they managed on stage. They have the tube strapped to their microphone running parallel to it all the way down the stand, but leaving about 4 extra inches of length past the ball of the microphone. You would definitely need a boom long enough to keep the stand behind your vibes.
Fender&EHX4everModeratorMy Golden Throat II just arrived today! WooHoo!!!! My wife and cat were not amused by the creepy voices coming from my studio, but hey, you can’t please everyone. I was having a blast.
So 2 things I discovered with the Golden Throat II:
1. The .22 Caliber makes an truly awesome companion for it
2. The Deluxe Big Muff Pi sounds insanely good with it too
Fender&EHX4everModeratorQuote:They’re 5K.Well, I tried 5K, and it made matters worse. BTW, it’s the trim that should go right under the Pitch potentiometer. 5K made the sweep smaller, that is, only the top half of the potentiometer. The signal drops out below about 50%.
So should I try using a trimpot with a lesser value ?
Fender&EHX4everModeratorThere are at least 2 or 3 different versions of the vintage stereo memory man made prior to 1983. I have one of the latest versions with the yellow silk-screening.
It only has a max delay time of about 300 ms, so you won’t be able to do dotted eighth Edge style rhythms or vast ambient landscapes – but slapback delays, and dreamy quarter note rhythm can be accomplished.
Tonally, they sound great if you can find one without the dreaded clock whine. My first unit had the whine, so I got rid of it. My yellow version is super clean and quiet. The repeats are very crisp for a bbd delay.
The chorus is not very flexible as you cannot control the rate of the modulation – it is fixed at a slow flanger-like sweep. Also, the delay time is fixed at about 40ms. But when separated into extreme pan, it sounds really huge and dreamy.
The DMM can do most everything that the SMM can do, except the stereo chorus; though the DMM can do a chorus with a direct out, but it’s not the same. Also, the DMM has almost twice the delay time, a preamp volume control, and the ability to use 2 fixed modulation rates simultaneous with the delays. There’s good reason why the DMM is twice the price.
Fender&EHX4everModeratorQuote:Quote:Hey guys, does anyone know what the trimpot values are in the EH-0400?They’re 5K.
Thank you, EH Man !
I just picked up another unit, but the previous owner put fixed resistors in place of the trimpot, making it next to impossible to calibrate the pitch across octaves
