Fender&EHX4everModeratorQuote:First off, unless you’re wearing an anti-static band, don’t handle that chip like that, CMOS are very static sensitive.
Second, while I haven’t traced it yet, a 4001 is a reasonable chip to be in there and you have ticking so there’s absolutely no reason to be suspicious of the chip I can see.
I would first be suspect of the switch itself so test it for continuity with your multimeter (middle pin should switch between the two outer pins with the switch) and the two tantalum capacitors in there, one is the turquoise cap, the other is the black one standing up.
Awesome. Thank you for taking the time to assist me!
Fender&EHX4everModeratorThe IC that came with it is a 4001.
The unit makes a clicking sound and the rate knob works, but it’s barely audible, and the tone switch does nothing.
What other component would be suspect if not the IC?Fender&EHX4everModeratorAnyone know what IC the metronome uses?
I have a malfunctioning unit, and I’m thinking it has the wrong IC installed.Fender&EHX4everModeratorQuote:Hi i have one of these for sale or trade if anyone is still looking for oneCheers,
JohnHello John,
I’m not sure I can afford one of these, but if you’re willing to satisfy my curiosity, feel free to shoot me some details through private message.
Thanks,

I didn’t see Behringer in the list of compatibility. Thanks in advance!
OMG DON’T DO THAT!! I tried the behringer with the 8-step and it does not work, they are not compatible.
The BOSS PS-5 did the trick for me, that is the only compatible BOSS pitch shifter. The PS-6 is a newer version and is not compatible, for whatever reason.
Another option is the EHX pitchfork. At the time of me posting on this thread, the pedal was still not released, but now I would say it’s the safest option. Same brand as the 8-step and people say it has nice tracking.
I know this two options are not as affordable as the Behringer one, it’s a bummer, but if you are lucky you may find a used PS-5 for a good price. I ended up spending many hours with it, It’s super fun either if you plug the 8-step or not.
I hope I helped you out, I’ll be happy to answer if you have more questions.I use the 8 step on a BOSS PS-3. It’s one of my favorite pedal combos.

Can the looper be restarted using a trigger or gate through one of the jacks?

I suppose in 1980 it made the most sense to most consumers to use it as the master clock source, or forego syncing altogether. I’m surprised there isn’t anyone well known who provides this modification. The DRMs seem to sell pretty well on eBay and Reverb, so there has to be a market for it out there.
My DRM 15 has both clock in and out, which is great for syncing with the vintage 16 sec delay. I wish the DRM 32 also had clock in, but at least the clock out can be used in Eurorack with something like the Erica Synths MIDI to Clock module to convert the clock to MIDI.
Now that EHX is reissuing the Dirt Road Special, I wonder if they’ve thought about reissuing all of the DRMs, drum modules, and replays with updated sync options?Fender&EHX4everModeratorNice! An updated Clockworks would be pretty sweet. I would just be thrilled to have one where the intervals didn’t get scrambled every time I restart the source clock. But even with it’s quirks it is a one of a kind piece of gear.
Fender&EHX4everModeratorAmazing. As a proud owner of five vintage Dirt Road Specials, I’m really excited for an updated version with new features. I always thought 25 watts was loud, but using a tube Black Finger on the originals is almost mandatory to get any clean volume… but 50 watts will be great for plenty of headrrom.
April 18, 2018 at 12:37 am in reply to: Reissue polychorus version VS the vintage reissue version used by Cobain #123804Fender&EHX4everModeratorThe original and reissue are different in a number of ways:
-The RI is in stereo. Both outputs have a fixed blend of wet and dry signal with a phase difference in the effected signal creating a stereo effect
-The Original has a mono effect output that can either be a fixed blend of wet and dry signal, or a 100% wet signal using the blend slide switch. It also has a direct output to allow you more control over the wet/dry mix
-The Original when 100% wet in chorus mode with minimum delay time allows for a decent triangle wave vibrato, something that the RI cannot do
– The layout of the knobs is different between the units
– The Tune knob (called Tune/Delay on the RI PolyChorus) is reversed on the Original. Minimum delay time is clockwise 100%But I agree that most people will not recognize the difference in a live performance. For that matter, you might save yourself some cash and just pickup a Small Clone if the goal is to sound like Nirvana.
Fender&EHX4everModeratorThere are really only a handful of EHX pedals with MIDI implementation. If I recall correctly, the first to include MIDI were the 16 Second Digital Delay RI, The H.O.G., and the 2880 Looper. Since then the trend has been to keep MIDI in the realm of loopers and the H.O.G. 2.
It’s possible that many guitarists ( who probably make up the majority of the market for EHX products ) have historically not been all that interested in MIDI. I don’t know, just speculating.
At any rate, EHX have always been pioneers with adding CV inputs to their pedals. I’ve always loved that about their products. I credit EHX for inspiring me to get into Eurorack synthesis, especially their vintage products like the DRM series, the drums, the Clockworks, the sequencers, and the replay samplers.
My recommendation is that you try to keep an eye out for a used Molten Voltage CTRL-Sync unit. It allows you to convert a MIDI clock signal into a tap signal. It works great on the Super Pulsar and the Deluxe Memory Tap Tempo series. It also allows you to divide or multiply the clock, which is super-useful.

Going to try and pick up the expression pedal today! It is subtle, but that’s not an oversight. Think of the TREM and VIBE settings as CLASSIC built-in amp tremolo and CLASSIC built-in amp vibrato emulators. Early tremolos and vibratos did not have a lot of depth because of the technology used to create them, but they had very desirable signature sounds.
Agreed
I’ve been a big fan of both versions (big box, xo) for a very long time. It has a signature sonic stamp that is very warm and pleasing to my ears.
Fender&EHX4everModeratorQuote:Hello,
any body interested in a vintage Pulsar Tremolo ?
I have 2 units, one is boxed, so I sell the other one

RafTrès cool, and tempting, but I’ve already blown my pedal budget this year on a vintage 16 second DD.
I see you are also selling your Attack Sustain. Have you ever done a comparison between the Attack Sustain and the original Attack Decay?Fender&EHX4everModeratorQuote:Hey guys! What is the logic order for these pedals:
