Mine’s that way too (I use it on bass) and I have to turn the bass waaaay down to get the filter anything but cranked open, which makes it tough to get the “Wah” sound.
Can anyone else comment on the sensitivity of this pedal?
fantomenosMemberCryabetes is right, not only is the LPB2ube not ready for the power of the amps output, it would present so little resistance to the amp itself, that the amp would almost certainly overheat very quickly.
Indeed, I’d be curious as to which would fail catastrophically first…
fantomenosMemberYeeesh, I didn’t want on of these until now.
Let’s see, I can replace my Baseballs and my phaser…
Oh, I’m gonna need a bigger pedal-board…
fantomenosMemberMan, where’s the “eating popcorn” smiley when you need it?
fantomenosMemberUnless pedal board space is a factor, I’d get the regular clone theory. You get stereo outs, and vibrato mode. Mine’s been a mainstay on my board for ages, its held up great.
fantomenosMemberOctave multiplexer -> Mole -> Bass Big Muff all-in-one?
Oh, and FJR, good luck with combat training. Thanks for serving, and we’ll keep the forums warm for you.
:clap:fantomenosMemberGood question Malkell. Since the videos show a guitar plugged directly into the magnum, it can’t be just a transparent power-amp, there must be some pre-amp/eq-ing going on, and as a bass player I would be very interested to see what that is. I’ve been thinking about buying the 44 as a backup, since it can drive an 8-ohm bass cab, but I don’t know how it’ll work on bass.
fantomenosMemberIf it will make you feel better, call it a fuzz.
You might want to listen to it…
Does it sound like what you think a fuzz is?
:freak:fantomenosMemberThere’s a subjective component here right? We’ve got a gain-based spectrum with clean boost at one end (which may cause your amp to overdrive of it’s own accord) and white noise at the other. Along the way we put signposts that say overdrive, distortion, fuzz, etc, but as far as I know there aren’t any hard and fast rules.
fantomenosMemberFrequency analyzer for your outgoing voice!?
So I could call my wife and pretend to be a Dalek?
Sold. You’re sitting on a goldmine, Trebek!
fantomenosMember2nded, an EHX interface, or even an ehx supported app would be a no-brainer for me.
I’ve currently got the Peavey AmpKit connector, but am looking into something that connects to the dock.
Oh, and fellow knob-twiddlers should definitely check out the Moog Filtatron app. It’s really addictive!
fantomenosMemberThe general rule of thumb is gain based before pre-amp and time-based in the loop.
So, I would put the memory toy in the loop, and the rest before. I think the enigma first, since distortion or compression before a filter tends to dull the envelope response, and limit the playing dynamics.
I actually tried this recently with my new (used) 1st gen Q-tron and my sansamp vt bass deluxe. When the Q-tron was in the effects loop, it was really hard to get it to behave, since I was pumping more gain in it then it was probably calibrated for. Putting it before the pre-amp allowed a lot dynamic expression.
As far as the Black Finger and the Steel Leather, I haven’t played around with either of those, and my understanding is that the Steel Leather is a kind of “anti-compressor”, so you might have a fight on your hands if they’re both on. Let us know who wins!
fantomenosMemberJust for the record, you can do this with a micro-POG as well.
As a bass player, I sometimes do the opposite of what you want to do, ie send an effected octave-up to a guitar amp, and pass my dry signal to my bass amp.
fantomenosMemberOh, mine has f-holes through the body and the stand-up style head. Makes changing strings a pain, I tell you…
