Having same type of problem, EHX 22500 unusable from new, unit nearly worked a bit after most recent firmware update released three days ago…. but still froze up. Trying a blank new SD card brought back some ability to operate the controls but the pedal would still freeze before you could do anything useful with it. But the improvement was a clue!
Editing this post now to say, it seems the problem was…. the SD card had a corrupt audio file on it, which kept trying to load up but failing. Seems to result in a general freeze-up. So if you have a freeze-up problem, worth looking at files on the SD card, check it on your computer, check that any audio files can be opened up and heard on your chosen computer audio player and if any don’t play, check the “properties” of the file… if there are zero bytes, because the file is unreadable, try just cutting and pasting that file to store it somewhere off the card temporarily, on desktop for example, and then re-insert the card into the pedal and power it up again. In our case this seems to have sorted the issue and we have a very cool device working now for the first time!
It doesn’t seem to be necessary to replace any file back onto the SD card, the pedal seems happy to just place any new audio file in the same place on the card without any further action being needed. May take some time to check out all the functionality is working, but, basically: Result!
