It’s a pic of Mike flexing his arms. It was made during the attempted takeover of the tube factory and was available at the NAMM show a couple of years ago. I’ll try to post a pic tonight.

“attempted take over of the tube factory”? What’s that all about?

have you not got the DVD?

if I get one in my graphic fuzz, I’ll send it over for you. :thumb:

Graphic Fuzz in the mail? 😆

hopefully this week, Carl thinks.. :D

have you reversed the lid for the picture or does it not have the ‘big muff’ screen print?

The autograph is on the bottom of the box. It’s a standard BMP box.

I hope for your sanity that isn’t fake 😆

I’ll be pretty gutted if it’s a fake

But I paid as much for it as I would’ve paid for a wooden box without the autograph, so I’d get over it.

Those wooden boxes were such a nice touch. I’m bummed that they discontinued that practice, though it might not be as cost effective or environmentally friendly.

I hope the new cardboard boxes are made from recycled materials.

you don’t need a white finger, black finger and BM deluxe W/SP and soul preacher!!!! facepalm-1.gif

….but….does the BMD have a attack knob/switch or whatever?

When have I ever been about “need”? 😆 If we start getting on about “need”, then it’s time for me to sell off about 4/5ths of my stuff. But I have to say, I’m trying my best to avoid the XO/nano reissues, only because I’ll be bankrupt if I start down that path in addition to the vintage lust.

The Dlx BMP only has a threshold knob for the compressor.

yeah, ok….’need’ is the wrong word…..maybe “wouldn’t seem too useful’

ahh, what does threshold do? is that like a sustain/compression or whatever you want to call it knob? I like my soul preacher, but I doubt it can do anything that you can’t do with the ‘fingers’ to be honest.

yeah, I know what you mean…ideally I’ll pick up another to rehouse….or get someone to clone it (I have a schematic)

I dunno…..there might not be room for it anyway, we’ll see down the line….I’d like it to look like this.

Well, as long as you do that to the enclosure, I completely endorse the rehouse

It’s so pretty, though, I’d be afraid to stomp on it ;)

hehehe, I need to find someone to do it first and that isn’t going well….I might have to give Johan a shout and see if he’s up for it, I rather now send it abroard unless I have to though. :rawk:

I thought you might get a kick out of this. I bought this Big Muff box on eBay a couple months back, and it has Mike Matthew’s autograph on it. Scott, can you verify its authenticity?

Now if I could just get Mike Matthews to sign my Soul Kiss ;)

Great, now I’m having Soul Preacher G.A.S. I’d been eyeing them for a long time, but I ended up finding a great deal on a White Finger in its original wooden box, so I jumped on that instead. I don’t regret it, but now I want both :(

Speaking of Soul Preachers, I have a Deluxe Big Muff Pi (blend switch version), which has a Soul Preacher built into the circuit. The compression used in isolation (without the fuzz) doesn’t do a very good job of compressing the attack. The compression kicks in just after the attack, and it’s pretty noticeable in an unpleasant way.

Does anyone know the Dlx BMP well enough to know if it’s supposed to be that way, or if there’s a way to adjust it?

here’s my ‘under construction’ pic. (a mess of wires and pedals at the mo!!)

It will have my wiggler on it and an XO graphic fuzz and Big Muff/TW before the end of the month hopefully…I’ll have my whammy and wah off board and maybe the tuner if there isn’t room for it.

Looking good there, mate. Now that I see the Punkifier in context to the rest of the board, it does stand out quite a bit. Still, it always freaks me out to see people rehouse vintage pedals 😥 But I agree, somehow it seems out of place visually.

Thanks for putting this guy on my radar, he’s a very cool talented musician….

I think he’s great. I had first stumbled onto this video a while back, and just loved it — and then I happened to notice the EHX in it — and that is partly what lead to the idea of having user-generated videos on the new EHX site.

I’ve posted a few other Conte clips to the blog, and he has now produced a few “official” clips for us (the Bass Muff, Deluxe Mistress, and Holiest Grail). But the EHXs in his version of The National Anthem are all just his editing choices (ie, we had nothing directly to do with this clip, other than that some EHX pedals are contributing to his sound).

yeah, I saw some of the clips he did, very cool….the guys a genius!

    yup, those….

but I’m not gonna even think about those prices and postage from germany.

They used to sell them at Hotrox but they only have 2 types left and they are on ‘closeout’ so I doubt they will get anymore.

and nowhere else seems to have them in the UK, that why I was wondering if they were still making them.

I think the main problems come from

A: running multiple dirts (if you want to use more than one at a time) I always find that one way round they sound great the other way round not so great. if you are using more than 2 it can take a while to figure out the best order.

B: when you have pedals that only sound good first inline…I found the double muff to be like that, it can force you into putting a pedal where you might not usually.

C: when you have stereo pedals that you want to use in stereo but sound better when they are not last….a stereo phaser for example.

It’s things like this when you run into problems and why you can really reel off a ‘chain order’ for someone.
