i know I really should. it was almost there. I was getting the effect to work but it just didn’t seem to trigger without touching the solder with the multimeter probe.

Still an unfinished project.

I put the red multimeter probe on the joint and the flanger fires up!
any ideas?

Any ideas?

October 16, 2010 at 4:32 pm in reply to: Electro Harmonix Electric Mistress repair (polarity fry?!) – hints or tips required! #111998eggwaterMemberWell I’ve done some fiddling about today.
I changed the zener and now get 6.65V at pin 2 on the 741. I wasn’t getting any readings on the 4558 so i’ve installed a new one of these. But still can’t get any voltage readings here.
Any ideas?
October 12, 2010 at 8:53 pm in reply to: Electro Harmonix Electric Mistress repair (polarity fry?!) – hints or tips required! #111928eggwaterMemberIt was 830 one way and 1 the other.
October 12, 2010 at 7:39 pm in reply to: Electro Harmonix Electric Mistress repair (polarity fry?!) – hints or tips required! #111926eggwaterMemberthe meter reads 830. Is this normal?
October 12, 2010 at 7:22 pm in reply to: Electro Harmonix Electric Mistress repair (polarity fry?!) – hints or tips required! #111924eggwaterMemberOK I switched the 741 for a TL071
still not working.
I can’t get a voltage reading on that pin 2 at all.
October 12, 2010 at 12:39 pm in reply to: Electro Harmonix Electric Mistress repair (polarity fry?!) – hints or tips required! #111919eggwaterMemberNot swapped it out yet. I found out I needed some more equipment. De-solder pump (just bought one at lunch).
Sorry I realise I’m a complete amateur

October 11, 2010 at 8:02 pm in reply to: Electro Harmonix Electric Mistress repair (polarity fry?!) – hints or tips required! #111910eggwaterMemberQuote:Check for 6.8v on pin 2 of the 741 and approx. 12-13v on pin 8 of the 4558.Can’t get a reading on pin 2 of the 741. Getting 12.48 on pin 8 on the 4558 (though I’m not 100% sure i’m testing these correctly – sorry I haven’t done this since high school – 18 years ago)
When i’m testing these with a multimeter I’m connecting black to the negative on one of the batteries (is this correct?)
hopefully if I just swap out the 741 it will be back in business.
*fingers crossed*

I had to wire a DPDT switch instead of a SPDT ‘cos it was the only one in the store that fitted the pedal. Have i wired it correctly?
