sorry its not what you wanted, but it is what it is, do research before you buy.

to be fair when you read things like this….

    # Designed specifically for musical instruments
    # Get the character sound of your live instrument
    # Handles high gain pedal board input delivering your favorite tone and definition

…it’s totally understandable that people might expect it to have basic analogue speaker emulation. I know it might sound odd coming from part of the admin team, but I think lofedi has a genuine point here, I would be very disappointed if I had bought one.

    Hey, Mr Grim

I am not with you in your very kind comment… You know what I would expect myself from those three comments? Headroom and Flat Response… That is pretty subjective, if you want, but I want the EHX HP Amp for listening to my own amp simulated pedals… So I will get a perfect signal in it, and that is what I want to hear at the phones…

You seem to be a very gentle and inclusive person, Mr Grim…

    Best Regards

I’m afraid you were looking for something different, maybe a small quality mixer or something with more EQ chances… I’m interested – instead – in something just like this… I want it to play along with my Sansamp Classic, and more Tech-21 Character Series pedals, and guess what? they all are amp simulators themselves… So… Do I need the feature you are asking for? Nop! I’m completely sure I do not even need tone controls, either, just as much headroom as possible… Are you getting me?… I think this product -if it takes as much gain load as they say- is pretty unique and practical, because of its size and coolness…

Looks like you know what you want, and you even play “Eddy Van Halen” stuff… So, you must have some nice effects around and the knowhow to get the most out of them… Try a small mixer and use the patch ins to add your effects to your usual effects chain, then just get a nice headphone set… It works!!! I’ve done it for years myself… Truest way to assess an amp simulator indeed…

I’m going to save my bread – seriously – and give it a try, since it is all I need to play around in the midnight hour…

Good luck, pal… And leave the EHX guys alone… They know well… They are just at a different level… You just go buy an amp simulator pedal and a mixer… Listen to an old guy… Not wise, just old enough…
