For me a resounding YES
…but…
at full volume on your guitar it’s a bit mucky. dial your volume back to 6/7 and this is the sound I’d been searching for ages.
slightly fuzzy and very responsive to your playing. play soft and it sparkles, dig in and it makes your chords crunch and shimmer.
Im trying to figure out a way to attenuate the pedal, but it’s looking more an more likely that’ll i’ll have to dial it down externally.
but to answer your question, i think this is one of the greatest unknown overdrive sounds ever.echobaseoneMemberI own the PN-2 as well…and while I like the Pulsar a lot, I wouldn’t consider it a replacement. THe PN-2 is much more “user-friendly” in that the rate and sweep are much more controllable. DOn’t get me wrong, you can get some amazing sounds out of the pulsar, especially in stereo, (more interesting ones than you would from the PN-2, in fact) but for functionality, the PN-2 edges it.

A digital “brain” an analog signal path…which is the only part you should really care about…
Adding a digital brain to the DMM would mean a major overhaul.echobaseoneMemberYou could try switching to track two to span the milliseconds gap. I’ve noticed this too. It seems worse when you’re recording and not quite so bad on playback. But there’s definitely SOMETHING.
I’m wondering if this latency is actually a result of the footswitch rather than the 2880 itself. Have you tried it by hand?echobaseoneMember3 Prong DMM
Bass Synth (sold)
White Finger
POG
BM w/ TW
Stereo Pulsar XO (kind of on the fence about, but for the price it’s pretty awesome)
Nano Muff (on the fence about)Graphic Fuzz is on my list!
echobaseoneMemberI usually put my POG at the start of my chain, though sometimes after light overdrive. When I had reverb, it went at the end. I would consider running the Micro Synth in front of the Distortion/Fuzz and also behind, because that’s a pretty subjective taste. In fact I always find these threads interesting, because so much of it depends on the sounds YOU want to make.
I suggest that you try every combination you can, maybe you’ll invent a new sound?echobaseoneMemberone of the guys on offsetguitars.com suggested a resistor change at the input. not sure how to go about that though.
echobaseoneMemberis there any signal coming through the headphones? right output? make sure the dials are set to actually send signal through (if they are all set to pan right, i believe that no signal will come out the left output).
also, i don’t know how much this place is asking for a non-functioning unit, but I recently saw a 2880 with footswitch for $300 on another equipment forum…so they ARE out there and going for a lot less than they used to.echobaseoneMemberYup this summer. Providing that’s when the Memory Boy comes out.

Duly noted! Thanks.
echobaseoneMemberQuote:The Memory Boy is going to knock your socks off! The masses have spoken and the Kitchen has delivered what will be the coolest Analog Delay Pedal. Others have tried, but could never figure out the recipe. The EHX Chefs have done it again. Stay tuned for this Boy…. he’s still the same little kid from the same block, but with a lot to say.Any Updates on this? I’m looking at the Carbon Copy, and I don’t want to!!!
echobaseoneMemberNot to get all jingoistic, but one of the things I like most about EHX effects, aside from their ability to go over the top, is that most are made in NYC. There aren’t many products left that are manufactured in the USA, particularly products that are made as affordable as EHX. Sure you can buy the purported copycat made with lesser components by MUCH lesser paid people, but whenever possible I think it’s best to fund the innovator rather than the corner cutter.
My $.02echobaseoneMemberI am a couple of days away from buying one of these…any more reviews would be awesome.
I’m curious as to what controls the overall volume, especially in single mode. Is there a significant boost when engaged or does it more or less match your “clean” setting?February 18, 2009 at 10:50 pm in reply to: order all the EHX pedals you’ve owned from favorite to least favorite #93536echobaseoneMemberDeluxe Memory Man (3 prong). Will NEVER get rid of this one.
POG. Saved me approximately $4000 in that I don’t have to buy and Electric XII nor a Bass VI.
Big Muff w/Tone Wicker. Just got this, but am already quite smitten.
2880. Bought this to develop a one-man ambient live act…Love the clarity of the loops, and the fading ability, but have yet to REALLY spend a lot of time with it. Maybe when I get more abstract again.
XO Pulsar. Cool sounds to be had, the range of usable sweep is a bit tight though.
Nano Muff. Great little overdrive…IF you use your guitar’s volume knob. At full blast it’s not so great.
White Finger. It’s just kind of there, but I can’t imagine it NOT being there. Great for recording bass too.Bass Micro Synth. Used this alot…probably too much, kinda got sick of it. Sold it.
February 5, 2009 at 9:50 pm in reply to: Ideas for the next batch of diecast RI pedals and possible EHX pedals of the future. #92735echobaseoneMemberI’d be interested to see some sort of Frequency Step Pedal from EHX, like the Zvex Seek Wah, but with more tweakable parameters.
