DO NOT ATTEMPT TO FIX THIS PEDAL ON YOUR OWN. EVEN REPLACING THE SWITCH VOIDS EHX’s COVERAGE.
I learned the hard way.echobaseoneMemberI can’t see the email to get in touch with Chip, can anyone repost?
I have this EXACT issue and am looking for repair options.
Thanks!PS- Did anyone have any luck fixing this issue with a new power supply?
echobaseoneMemberHOLY MOTHER OF MEAT…
echobaseoneMemberIt’s more than just the click, it’s the actual action of the switch that causes this slight delay that I just couldn’t get over.
Now that I’ve done the soft latch switch changeout to my Freeze, I wish I hadn’t sold off my 2880. I could’ve switched out ALL the switches on the footpedal and been superhappy. I agree the Boss is nowhere near the fidelity of the 2880. Dammit.
I hope they come out with another looper soon.echobaseoneMemberSoft switches on the foot controller!
The clicky DPDTs threw off my timing and went back to the far inferior Boss RC-20 lamenting what could have been.echobaseoneMemberIt’s so easy it’s laughable. undo 2 connections, make two connections.
HUGE improvement on a really cool pedal.
Of course, I think I paid more for shipping/handling than the switch itself!July 3, 2012 at 6:16 pm in reply to: order all the EHX pedals you’ve owned from favorite to least favorite #117841echobaseoneMemberUpdate:
1) 90s Deluxe Memory Man (BEST. DELAY. EVER)
2) Rams Head Big Muff (BEST. FUZZ. EVER)
3) POG (Until I can afford a Fender XII or Bass VI)
4) Freeze (Such a great idea…trying not to look at the Superego too closely!)
5) 2880 (sold, but what a looper! Would benefit from a softer switching than the standard DPDT style)
6) Double Muff, modded by JHS (Great overdrive on the cusp of fuzz. Razor sharp clarity on chords)
7) Holiest Grail (Sold, just too much reverb for me. But I have to admit I miss it now)
Bass Micro Synth ( Sold. Awesome for that Oberheim swwweeeeeaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrPpppp. But it gets kind of old.)
9) White Finger (great on bass)
10) Stereo Electric Mistress (traded, but a solid little modulator)
11) Stereo Pulsar (traded, my PN-2 is all the tremolo I need…but this was AMAZING in stereo)
12) Deluxe Electric Mistress (returned. kind of underwhelmed really, but Flanger has never been my favorite)
13) Nano Muff (Sold. Not a very exciting overdrive)Holy crap, I have been through some pedals.
echobaseoneMemberI had the 2880 for about a year, the only improvement I could think to make (and my primary reason for letting it go) would be the footswitches. Boss-type soft touch vs. DPDT or whatever they are would have been a huge help in getting my timing right. It always felt that the engagement had a slight lag due to the travel required by the switch.
Maybe it’s just me, but it was enough to sell it on. Otherwise, what a machine!echobaseoneMemberHere’s my Ram’s Head glamour shot…
echobaseoneMemberI loved almost everything about the 2880 except for the footswitches. The “soft touch” switches on the Boss Loopstation seem to work much better for (my) timing. The clarity of the 2880 was stunning, but a lot of the extras went unused.
I’d love to see an EHX take on a smaller more performance based stereo looper. No modulation required, but an effects loop could be pretty cool for such things.echobaseoneMemberI thought the El Cap was ok, but I knew the second I played through it that I wouldn’t be keeping it. Sold it for $5 less than I paid and bought a used XO DMM and pocketed $100. That was a good day. DMM>everything else.
echobaseoneMemberIf I understand this correctly…you’re wondering if you’ll be able to get some natural overdrive from this pedal? Using the pre and post controls should definitely get you there, it does me…HOWEVER this is in conjunction with a tube amplifier, so your results with decks and a mixer might be different. It does seem like it SHOULD work though, especially for getting some bass BOOM. Although if it’s distortion you’re after…you might just try a muff or something.
echobaseoneMemberechobaseoneMemberMicro Bass Synth with a little delay or reverb can emulate the Taurus pretty accurately.
June 4, 2009 at 5:05 pm in reply to: Deluxe Memeory Man or Stereo Memory Man w/ Hazarai? Which would you rather have? #97333echobaseoneMemberDMM by a mile for me. It’s the most musical delay EVER. That said, I do have a Boss DD-20 that picks up any slack. But if forced to choose, DMM.
