Of course the possible differences in sound between the big box versions and the XO’s have nothing to do with the enclosure itself, but with the components used. Even if the schematics are in theory the same, the SMD’s used in the XO’s do have an influence on the sound (among this lower noise from what i’ve been told).
These differences in sound can be positive or negative, that is for each to decide after hearing it himself. I don’t understand why each time someone says, after trying both versions of an effect, that one sounds different, there are always comments trying to make us believe we are wrong. :freak:
DreamhunterMemberI also compared a big box one to my XO one and also found that the new one has a cleaner sound, the repeats degrade less. It is up to each person to decide if that is a good or a bad thing.
DreamhunterMemberQuote:yup, why not eh?Exactly what i thought: why not? 😆 I am not a big fan of wah pedals in general, but i am all for EHX brining us new products. And if EHX would start using the box for a wah pedal, then other products that use the same design could follow (volume/expression pedal etc.) and that i would REALLY want!
DreamhunterMemberWow, seems very nice:clap: ! I know it was mentioned before, but how much will it cost (in Europe)?
DreamhunterMemberThey can be modded, but it is a lot more difficult. A friend of mine modded a Big Muff that was built with SMDs and it was very hard but he managed it.
DreamhunterMemberThat sounds so interesting that maybe it shouldn’t get fixed lol. 😆
DreamhunterMemberThey are not new controls, the knobs and switches are basically the same as on the old big box. The switch on the old one became a 2 position knob on the small one, and the depth knob is what was before the knob labeled chorus/vibrato. So no differences between the two from this point of view.
DreamhunterMemberThe new Worm interests me! And so does the Bass Big Muff with guitar! If you can do these two it would be awesome!
P.S. A vote from me for the Flanger hoax too!
DreamhunterMemberI think the demos like the ones by Dan Miller (i like his demos better than the ones by Peter Stroud btw) are more informative for a potential buyer. You get to see better what the pedal does, how it works. The song ones, like the ones by Jack Conte (which i love) are great to inspire you and show you the potential of the pedals. But, if i had to choose between the two, i’d go for the “talking head” type. Ideally you should keep doing both types.
And yes, the demos by Andy from Pro guitarshop are great usually, a good combination of good playing and information. And great variety in his song choices.
DreamhunterMemberI just opened to take a look inside my Boss Ce-2 but i didn’t see the trimpot, it must be somewhere under the circuit board and i am afraid to pull that out. I would have liked to try to see what difference it makes.
