Isn’t the IC the delay chip? If so, I wonder what chip he put in there? Did it have reticon sad1024’s to begin with?

Someone on EHX really needs to get on board and fill us in with the trim pots on these things. I bought the Memory Boy the day it came out and sent it back 3 days later because the modulation was so bad and repeats a longer delay settings were almost inaudible. I didn’t even think about there being any trimpots inside. With some tweaking they can be really good pedals….if we knew what we were tweaking.

Howard Davis didn’t get back to me yet, but Ron did.

According to Ron, he doesn’t usually do repairs anymore, but will make an exception for EH. We’re in communication and still trying to determine if it’s worth it.

You guys are great. I’ll try and advise results.

What’s wrong with the pedal? What’s it doing? Surprised Howard didn’t get back with you…he’s usually very fast at responding to emails. Plus, he probably built the pedal in the first place lol!

Don’t have or have ever tried either of them but I’ve always heard the LBM was better and the tone wicker being the best out of the newer ones.

I’d be extremely cautious bidding on anything like that unless you know what you’re doing. An analog delay, especially the MM isn’t a beginners pedal to be foolin around with. I’d ask alot of questions and request a good bit of pics to make sure that’s all that’s wrong with it.

No need for a combo that would just jack the price up and probably lower the quality. EXH…..IT’S TIME FOR A UNI-VIBE! CAN YA DO IT LOL?!!

Na I’ve tried both and didn’t really get a true UniVibe sound out of it. Didn’t try them together though. I did like the Worm’s phase sound though. I’d just like to hear EHX’s take on a true budget friendly Vibe pedal. I bet it would be good.

BTW, I see your a floyd fan. Me too, that’s actually what it’s for.

The MB is a lot darker and lo-fi compared to the MM. They’re two different analog delays with the MM using superior panasonic chips. Don’t try to compare the two….there’s no comparison.

Maybe this will help a bit. I recently stumbled across a late 70’s MXR M118 analog delay. I have to admit the sound was very close to the MB except the MB, of course, has more options and longer delay times. So you gotta give credit to EHX in that they succeeded in developing a low cost analog delay for everyone. Sure it’s lo-fi but that’s what you can expect in an analog delay. I think everyone, myself included, has been spoiled by the DMM because it sounds so good! It doesn’t really sound lo-fi to my ears just a clean analog delay.

    Thanks for your answer dmc777!

Maybe should I look for a tape echo, for a more brighter sound.

Oh, and thanks for your proposition about ebay, but I think that if I am planning to get a Memory Boy, I will buy it in my local music store ;)

    Other answers? :)

Well I’d try it first. What I don’t like might sound great to you. If you have a music store close by I’d just go up there and try it out or buy it…if you don’t like it you could always send it back. If I were you and you have the money, get a classic or xo chassis deluxe. That’s THE best sounding delay I’ve ever heard. Not too dark and not too bright…they’re perfect. And this is coming from someone who currently has 7 delays at home and have owned more!
