i can’t think of anyway to have this happen because the mixdown track is the same length as the overall loop
you would have to use a delay unit in the front of the 2880
dibletMemberprobably just a short loop time (under 1 second), fader of the track you are recording on set to less than 100% (varying the decay/repeat rate)
with this the tempo slider would change the time between repeats by altering the overall loop time (and pitch shift anything still in memory/looping)
does that help?
September 30, 2009 at 1:37 am in reply to: Anyone know how to lower the volume of a V.1 Micro-Synthesizer? #101909dibletMembermaybe its not the same with the older micro synths … but why don’t you just lower the signal sliders until its at the level you like? i use the level sliders like this all the time to set the maximum volume i want out of a given voice
or is the step just above “not on” too loud?

2. stereo memory man w/hazarai
3. microsynth
4. big muff pi w/tone wicker
5. lpb-1
6. russian bass balls (will be selling soon, needs a home that will use it more)dibletMemberyou could always try reformatting the card in your computer – people with 2880 problems sometimes solve them through reformatting…
otherwise, i see a conversation with ehx in your future … sounds like your unit is in need of replacement
dibletMemberas far as i know, the only way to stop a loop is to bypass the pedal first — or switch to loop mode and turn the blend all the way to dry
either way you have to temporarily switch out of the echo you are using
June 27, 2009 at 8:07 pm in reply to: Wishlist for the next generation of digital pedals- HOG, 2880, and SMMH2 #98514dibletMemberhaving an option to link/unlink loop lengths would be top on the list (having the ability to use the 2880 as is now with a fixed/same loop length on each track, or hit a button to have 4 independent length loops) seems like it would open up a lot of possibilities for atmospheric/abstract layering
dibletMemberis this freeze function only found on the hog? or are there stand alone freeze pedals out there? seems like money left on the table…
dibletMemberthis is a great discussion, i would love a freeze pedal — i use a freeze function in lloopp (max/msp) all the time
effects loop and dry/wet mix knob are essential to making this a useful pedal (although, i would almost prefer an effect out + dry out over an effects loop)
when it comes to design, i would think even simpler…
three elements – bypass switch, simple stomp switch for engaging the freeze, dry/wet mix knob
if i were to add a forth it would be a filter (low/highpass) knob like that on the smmw/h
also the freeze should not be long at all – 500ms seems too long – wouldn’t the sound pulse too much at that time? besides you could do that kind of “freezing” with a short loop on a smmw/h – i do that kind of freezing quite a bit to build up drones. i set the delay time in loop mode all the way counter clockwise, engage the shortest loop possible, then raise the delay time to the max. even at this short of a time window, if i don’t fade volume in and out when creating the loop, its not an even drone, it will pulse with the loop length (as the volume/attack changed over the time of recording the loop)
dibletMemberyou can do this — but you would have to have a free hand to move down the volume sliders on tracks you wanted muted — then when you want them back just move the volume sliders on those tracks back up
dibletMembertry the eq to boost the volume/signal before the microsynth — the microsynth needs a load of volume to kick on (i use a lpb-1 before mine)
dibletMemberthanks for the picture – im sure this will help a lot of people out
May 27, 2009 at 8:52 pm in reply to: new micro synth issues / questions … defective or normal behavior? (sound file) #97061dibletMembergot an email from ehx on this — sounds like the octave jumping is perfectly normal — got to learn to love its quirks
dibletMemberQuote:I needed to solder a single wire from the ground chassis to the output jack in order to make the MicroSynth operable. According to the EHX representative this is a common problem that MicroSynth owners encounter.i wonder why this ground is not standard on the xo’s then if its a common problem!? great you found the answer though! thanks for posting the answer — were you supplied with a diagram on exactly where to attach it? just curious incase my (or anyone else’s) unit ever exhibits this behavior
cheers
dibletMemberseems like the micro synths are quirky units…
i am not sure what strategy might help you here — however, just thought i would submit that i work without an amp and have not ran into any humming issues with my unit — so hum-free operation is possible! hopefully someone else has some advice for you
