my list of improvements would include:

    -standard-
    1. optional loop sync between the four tracks: synced, asynchronous or multiplied (like the boomerang 3)
    2. one button bounce/mix-down (then erasing/clearing the individual tracks)
    3. one button delete for individual tracks

    -advanced-
    4. ability to adjust/trim loop beginning and end points – effectively allowing one to record a longer passage and loop specific sections. (like the timefactor)

    -wish-
    5. along with the capability in #4, it would be great to have the ability to locate/determine where the looped section is in the longer passage (the adjusting/trimming determines the looping length, the locate feature determines where that length is along the entire passage).

It’s not listed on the catalog page anymore. Also, my sales rep told me a couple of months ago that it and the 2880 were being discontinued.

    gotcha, cool to know.

i got my money on case design and a few incremental upgrades (like pog -> pog2).

The HOG is discontinued as well

where did you hear this? it doesn’t seem to be listed on the ehx hog page like it is on the 2880’s…

a case redesign seems to make sense here with both the 2880 and hog discontinued at the same time…

So no matter what comes next I imagine the 2880 will be remembered fondly for some function or feature that got dropped or re-imagined.

exactly. and if it fits the bill for what you need now, the presence of an updated version won’t change that… with all tech, you can spend forever waiting to make sure you get the current thing – meanwhile, you miss all the time of actually using a unit to make things…

if i had to guess, i’d say later summer at the earliest…

OK, I just bought this. Did I inadvertently make a good collector’s move or will I get buyer’s remorse when the 2880’s successor is introduced?

it is a great pedal, i doubt you’ll regret it.

although i’d love to see it happen soon, i’d guess it will be some time before we see an updated looper. they haven’t even put up their latest batch of pedals / made out to stores yet (superego, wah etc). they are probably just trying to dry up the supply chain…

Bring back the 16 sec analog delay

it would be great to see two loopers released.

a smaller, simpler version taking the place of the 16 second delay

and a new updated version of the 2880. maybe xo-like case? (think big pigtronix?)

seems like there would be space in the line-up…

although i love the 2880 as is, i can’t say i’d be surprised to see an update.

    i hope this happens soon!

wondering if this might help anyone with ideas of what is going on…

i found that if i place a buffered pedal in between the hog, the loud noise is not present whether the hog is engaged or not.

hog -> sole-mate reverb tank (noise whenever hog is engaged)
hog -> any buffered pedal -> sole-mate reverb tank (no noise)

knowing the buffer blocks/corrects the issue, does anybody have an idea of what could be causing the noise problem?

vanamps has been helpful troubleshooting this, but no diagnosis yet….

in testing though, i realized that my hog has a hiss when engaged (even with all voices/sliders down). any other hog owners encounter this?

i’d imagine you’d have to intercept the signal going to the pot to control the parameter you want to foot-control – adding a switching jack that you can then run out to an appropriately valued foot controlled pot.

i’d try and get in touch with the people who have actually modded the pedals in the way you are hoping for and ask them on the specifics/values etc

let us know what you find out.

keep using fresh areas on the braid until the solder from the joints are completely sucked up into the braid. (set the braid on the joint and heat the braid until the solder flows into it, move to a fresh part of the braid and repeat as needed)

a de-soldering pump ($5) makes things even easier. just heat the joint and suck the solder up.

once the solder is completely gone, you’ll still probably have to evenly heat the terminals to loosen any residual solder as you work the switch out.

oh yeah, super easy. the switch has its own breakout board. desolder, put new switch in, solder, done.

i could totally get into an xo 16 second delay reissue …
    an xo-ed 2880 https://www.ehx.com/forums/viewreply/12016/
or a new small format dedicated looper pedal https://www.ehx.com/forums/viewreply/32200/

but i’m not exactly holding my breath…

i am surprised this doesn’t exist — seems like there is a market for a simple looper. the boss rc-2 / rc-3 seem to be the only/closest competitor in the small+simple looper category, but lacks the essential ability to attenuate the loop and the single footswitch is not as intuitive / easy to use live as a two switch setup (although i know you can get an external switch for the boss). the 16-second delay reissue seemed to fill this space when it was available, but its large footprint doesn’t make it an ideal fit…

here would be my wishlist for a small+simple dedicated loop pedal:

    *two switches:

1.) left switch= record (press to record, after recording once to stop recording, after recorded once to play the loop and overdub, once after pressing play to overdub, again to stop overdubbing, hold when not playing to erase loop)

2.) right switch= play (press after recording to start playing loop, press again to stop playing loop, press and hold to activate new loop ready while playing or stopped so next press of the recording switch activates starting recording a new loop ala the ‘new loop’ button on the 2880)

    *two knobs:

    1.) blend knob

2.) attenuation knob that is always active regardless of whether you are in recording mode or not (which would enable the ability to slowly fade a loop out without adding to it while continuing to play)

*16-bit 44.1khz recording quality or better

*long loop length (thinking 5 minutes or more, the idea being you won’t hit the maximum length in any practical situation)

    *stereo in/out

*medium xo box (big muff size) turned on its side would be great – however, i suppose i could live with the larger xo box (smmwh) ;)

seems do-able! i think they would get gobbled up…

haha, not completely crazy – i did try the foil, but it didn’t seem to do the trick… and it doesn’t seem to matter how the actual cabling is coiled or not…

i think you are right, it is looking more and more like i have to grab a couple onespots…
