Smallbear has the big stomp switches too: http://www.smallbearelec.com/Detail.bok?no=454
but the blue 3PDT switches are better quality.
Depends on your version and what you want to do.devnulljpParticipantQuote:Quote:I have a bit of history about the Axis on my Big Muff page. I believe it was 1967 that the two knob version was first sold. It layer changed to the three knob version, which was identical to the Triangle Big Muff.I don’t think there was ever a 3-knob Axis. At least, I’ve not seen one yet.
I always thought the first 3 knobbers inherited Foxey Lady name from the earlier 2-knob Mosrite and early EHX FL/Axis?
(Not mine unfortunately)
devnulljpParticipantNice find(s). I have a couple of Guild Foxey Ladies — one earlier Mosrite and a later EHX, which seems to be the same as your axis (axes?). That description of the fuzz control is spot on. It’s definitely a weird one.
To be clear, are these two the same inside?devnulljpParticipantmid-90s Russian Sovtek
devnulljpParticipantThere’s also the Radio Havana by Heavy Electronics
the blurb says “a tone reminiscent of a small transistor radio. Tinny with washed frequencies…”
I’ve had amps that sounded just like that in the first placedevnulljpParticipantOK, gotcha.
devnulljpParticipantI posted a short how to to fixing the light issue.
Turns it into an effect on/off indicator instead of the dumb power on light.

EH didn’t make Qtrons in the 70s and 80s. Musitronics made Mutrons. Thanks — any idea when was the first issue QTron that this is a reissue of?
Any difference between the earlier ones and these?devnulljpParticipantLay you odds the stomp switch is knackered.
Get a new one at smallbear. 5 minute solder job and you’ll be in business.devnulljpParticipantThat’s good to know.
I found Dunlop to be pretty good that way too, and all but one of the boutique builders I’ve ever dealt with have been fantastic.devnulljpParticipantYou can fix the volume drop with a simple resistor value change.
There’s details in the mods pages.devnulljpParticipantSounds like the oscillator might be inducing a surge into the power supply.
Shove a 47 uf (or higher) electrolyic cap across one of the ICs in the middle of the board or across the oscillator IC should take care of it.
Otherwise, it’ll be the caps (are there caps bypassing the powersupply in those versions?): old caps = high impedance = you’ll get LFO bleedthrough into the audio path.Good excuse for getting it cheap though, but shouldn’t be an expensive or difficult fix if you’re good with a soldering iron.
See what Ron has to say though…July 28, 2009 at 4:04 pm in reply to: I have a 4 knob DMM thats needs some serious help.. Can you guys help me?? #99367devnulljpParticipantQuote:Its all good now, i actually traded it for a 75′ Small Stone
Thanks EH!I think you win — great phasers.
devnulljpParticipantQuote:polychorus, pulsar
that weird red thing isn’t an EHX box. could be a mu-tron pedal?
edit – red thing’s a mu-tron phasor IICould be wrong, but doesn’t it look more like the phasor, and not the phasor II?
Both great phasers though.phasor:
phasorII:EDIT: No, you were right first time — didn’t see the three knobs in the later pics — phasor II it is.
devnulljpParticipantDL4 is good, easy too.
I have a Digitech PSD8000, and it sounds great but I find it a PitA to use.
Got a lo-fi loop junky on the way too
There’s a 2880 or a 16s delay in my future for sure though -
