Depends on what you mean by ‘mean’ though. I really love the Rams Head, but it doesn’t seem mean to me. The 1st issue Russian is quite in your face, so’s the EH3034 — the Mudhoney muff.

What’s that chain of resistors in there? Mine has that too, but it also has a ‘repaired by EHX Man’ sticker inside so I thought it was a repair thing.

I put my Small Stone before the SuperComp to help with the volume drop. It’s not that bad without the comp, but it sounds great with the comp in place.

You can mod it to get rid of the volume drop: https://www.ehx.com/forums/viewthread/982/

-Boss DC-2 / Fromel Lush — I hate chorus, but these things both add an interesting depth if you’re playing a stereo rig.
-Echoplex — even ignoring the echo, the preamp does … something … to your tone. I only really noticed it one day I had the box down for a good clean and was playing without it and boy did my sound suck. I got a EP-Pre now too for those days.
-I have a vintage (1966) Sam Ash Fuzzz Boxx, which adds an unearthly grind I’ve never really found in another fuzz. Low gain, not super high sustain like a muff or splatty like a Fuzz Face, which I like. I have a couple of clones too (one of EH Man’s early Teaser Fuzz and another built by Jim Roth, the guitarist from Built to Spill, both of which are lower noise and sound very similar.
-Fuzzrite! Mine’s from 1968, although I’ve also got a ’67 Guild Foxey Lady that’s a Mosrite build and is a fuzzrite inside. Stooges!
-70s Maestro Boomerang wah/volume pedal. My favourite wah.
-For movement, I’ve got a bunch of old Maestro PS-1 and 1A phasers, one of which sounds better than all the rest (I don’t know why, they’re identical inside), although I also really like the Jen Motorphaser.

Nothing too outlandish in that lot, but it all sounds great. The wackiest thing I have is a ZVex LiFi LoopJunky looper, which is just plain weird. I love it.

Thanks, that’s interesting. I have most of the others–v2 Ram head, v3 3003 red/black box, v4&5 IC muffs (1322, 3003, 3003-B), 3034, Green Army, even my Tone Wicker–and they all get pretty loud. Kicking out the tone stack on the TB ones does get a big volume jump too (and the wicker goes through the roof). But my triangle is not really loud. I wonder if it’s a bit goosed?
I know at least some iterations of the Superfuzz and a few others don’t really go above unity gain by design.
I was wondering if that’s true for the triangle?

Instruments previously produced in New York during the 1950s and 1960s. Later models manufactured in Japan.
Strad-O-Lin was a brand name of the Peter Sorkin Music Company. A number of solid body guitars were built at the Multivox company of New York, and distribution of those and the later Japanese built models were handled by the Sorkin company of New York City, New York. Other guitars built and distributed (possibly as rebrands) were Royce, Premier, Belltone, and Marvel.”

    It’s a 70s or 80s probably MIJ.

    There’s a catalogue here, but it’s PPV: http://www.vintaxe.com/catalogs_american_marvel.htm

    This guy has one: http://www.flickr.com/photos/31525059@N03

I just went over to vintaxe, but the forum seems to be gone?

I’d rather listen to paint dry…or get a root canal maybe lol.gif
But that’s what’s so great about something as subjective as music…

use one of these to host the pics
    http://www.imageshack.us
    http://www.photobucket.com

Then grab the “for forums” links which should look like this

    Code:
    [img]http://some.image.file.jpg[/img]

Paste that in and you’re away.
Make sure you resize to 800 x 600 or smaller or it’ll get cut off.
Make sure there are no spaces in the URL…the braindead SW balks on spaces.
