If you mean the mechanical click rather than the elctronic pop, you can get those soft touch switches that lovepedal use.
devnulljpParticipantQuote:Yeah, I’d say those pots are non-original. What kind of knobs did it have on it?Some random rubbish. I have some round shaft Davis Molding repros I shoved on it so it looks better. Lovely sounding muff though.

After
devnulljpParticipantThought so — thanks.
BTW, the pots on that board I posted above have a 1978 date — I’m presuming they’re non-original…wasn’t the 3003 Foxey Lady from 73-ish?devnulljpParticipantQuote:So, can I leave it all hooked up (to other pedals and what not) without draining the battery as long as I turn the switch off?Yes.
Most newer gear has the battery hooked up to a stereo input jack so it’s turned on when you plug in your cable. Your muff has the battery hooked to the on/off switch. Turning it off disconnects the battery, same as unplugging from a regular pedal. I much prefer this — my fuzzrite, early muffs, and foxey ladies all have this. Analogman offers a pot with an on/off switch built in as an upcharge on his sunface.devnulljpParticipantQuote:Quote:I wouldn’t say that Zvex is the only one. There are a bunch of small and boutique builders making really cool stuff.
Yeah, Catalinbread, Barber, Subdecay, and Mid-Fi are all pretty cool. There are others too, of course.
devi ever and oh no no spring immediately to mind
devnulljpParticipantI have both Carling and Gibson switches here too, but it’s too close to call whether they’re the same. I’m told the ridges are coarser on the Gibson and that the tool above doesn’t work well. http://www.stewmac.com/shop/Tools/Wrenches/ESP_Multi_Spanner.html%5DThis was suggested instead.
Sorry, didn’t mean to turn into an ad for stewmac…

Well done. Thanks! It really does sound amazing. It is the sound I have been looking for. The problem is…it hasn’t cured my GAS!
That happens
devnulljpParticipantHe shoots, he scores! That’s a ram’s head w/BC239s. And very nice condition too. I had one of those and they’re great sounding muffs.
Well done.devnulljpParticipanttweezewr?
EDIT: tweezers? It’s pretty tight on there.
I eventually desoldered the switch and unscrewed it from the back …
devnulljpParticipantQuote:Need to go get batteries for the camera. I will definitely do it tomorrow. It isn’t the RAMS head though. It’s the modern looking case.v3 is still a ram’s head inside though — EH3003. Those things are sleepers and a way round the high prices for the little face graphic version. Same muff, different jacket. I had one, sold it, just bought another. Mine had BC239Cs in it and was an awesome muff.
devnulljpParticipantCool, That’s a bargain price for a Ram’s Head muff. Well done. Post pics…
devnulljpParticipantReally? I’m SoL then I guess. What do you use? A regular wrench of some kind? I gues you probably see mor eof thes ein an afternoon than I run into in a year…
Do you think this would do it?
devnulljpParticipantQuote:I recently got a USA Muff RI and it sounds pretty good. But now I’m thinking of trading it in for the version with Tone Wicker. Maybe this is a stupid question but with the Tone switched off (and the extra gain this produces), will the pedal sound more like an earlier vintage BMP?No, not really. If you want a vintage Big Muff your best bet is to buy one (or a clone like the Dice Works Muff Diver or a Skreddy).
devnulljpParticipantQuote:I have been agonizing for weeks about which fuzz pedal to getGet a Tone Wicker. It’s what $80? And sounds great, especially for the money. I got mine for $60, and I use it a lot even though I have a lot of other fuzzes too. It’s a fun pedal.
devnulljpParticipantQuote:You actually own a couple Guild Foxey Ladies?! Now those are rare!
How are they though?Yes, I’ve got three Foxey Ladies…
1968 Guild Foxey Lady/Mosrite Fuzzrite (pot codes: 137 68 09)
1968(?) Guild Foxey Lady/EHX Axis Fuzz (pot codes: 137 68 29) (although I guess it could be later — I heard Mike Matthews had loads of pots when he started out so there’s a good chance the pot pre-dates the pedal by a bit. Although these were made in 68…)
early 70s Guild Foxey Lady/EHX Big Muff Pi Lamb’s Head EH3003They’re all different. The Mosrite is a Fuzzrite with a Sprague module, so you know what that sounds like — the Stooges / Iron Butterfly / Davie Allan & The Arrows … I love the Fuzzrite.
The Axis is a strange beast — the fuzz knob is really mislabelled. It’s a two transistor circuit and the knob is more of a blend between the fuzz from one or the other trannie. Similar to the Fuzzrite in that respect. One’s a thinner trebly sounding fuzz and the other’s thicker and middier. It’s cool.
The Lamb’s Head is a Lamb’s Head big muff w/ FS36999s. Sounds like an awesome Big Muff (although it’s a bit beat up…I’m in the process of cleaning it up).
I’ve seen pics of a triangle big muff/foxey lady but never seen one in the flesh.
EDIT: Better pic after I cleaned up the ram’s head
