handcrafted in Prague, Czech Republic (i’m czech, btw), new Celestion V30, new selected JJ tubes
4 El84s, but man… it sounds more like a fender amp! ridiculously beautiful clean channel with really awesome bright switch (not harsh at all!), cool crunch (but still i’ll be using my Jekyll&Hyde;), XLR emulated output
i’m astonished by the Volume pot – i’m able to dial in a volume usable in the night without making neighbours even notice my playing but still it can totally scream when you want it to
and the price couldn’t be better
it handles distortion pretty well, it’s not that huge sound as with the VC30, but that’s because this is smaller than the VC30, so it’s logical
good for you, man! imho, it’s just very cool and intelligent mixture of hip hop, pop music and some psychedelic weirdness but i’m aware of some people who are repulsed by the “hip-hop” part
but the new album (Plastic Beach) is somehow less cool than Demon Days or my beloved debut album… but still – there are some good tracks!
fenriz, from Voxes i know the AC30CC2 pretty well and the laney is kinda similar, but not really the same it has this beautiful, warm sound of EL84s, but to me, the AC30 sounds more jangly and sharp, when the VC30 is more jazzy – more vintage, round sound. I’m talking about clean channels of course
when it comes to drive channels… the VC30 sounds – again – more vintage to me. More r’n’r vibe, kinda muffled, but bare-boned sound. The AC30 drive top boost channel has more clarity, edge, it’s more pronounced and modern…
the VC30 has a full 3-band EQ, but i use it only for boosting mids a bit. I like the VC30’s reverb a bit more than the one on the AC30 – don’t know why
these are just my opinion, but in general:
AC30 = more jangle, edge, more modern sound
VC30 = more rounded, jazzy, vintage, mainly usable for clean sound (but oh how pretty it is!)
Flick: unfortunately not, but i’d like to stick to tube amps
Guys, please… don!t recommend me any other amps… i don’t wanna waste your time with this – i’m really terribly indifferent when it comes to purchasing something new
and i’m not sure about the C1 either… we’ll see, i’m gonna try some amps during the holiday and then pick something… i fear i won’t be able to post here, because i’ll be ashamed that i started with AC15H1TV and ended up with something from bullshit-amps (insert what you don’t like)
for 10$ it’s cool but not when you need it shipped to the europe
anyway… i started to explore The Mars Volta and i dialed kinda crazy modulated delay short time, wide pitch shifting, long repeats… it’s not as cool as omar’s analog warbly sounds, but it’s very cool…
unfortunately with this, i lost my through-zero flanging
