Super excited for the killswitch. I think there’ll be a lot of ways to use that one.
January 13, 2011 at 8:07 pm in reply to: quick easy diy expression footswitch for holy stain harmonies #113709CryabetesParticipantMan you could almost do that with a couple EHX Signal Pads, couldn’t you?
dang.
ideas ideas.CryabetesParticipantoh nice, didn’t see that.
CryabetesParticipantno
the ‘ACA’ refers to the Boss ACA 9v DC adapter.
Do not connect it to this, it won’t work.CryabetesParticipantQuote:It’s especially important to check with EHX gear because a lot of their pedals run on 18 and 24v … unlike say Boss where most of their pedals (if not all) can use the same 9v power supply.…so yeah, don’t worry about it too much, but always check the specification of the power supply and the pedal you are plugging it into…. especially the voltage and polarity of the supply. Because if you do damage the pedal with the wrong power supply you won’t be covered on the warranty.
one tip i’ve gotten and use when working with a setup with lots of adapters that are putting out different voltages is to get some cable ties [zip ties] of different colors and color-code the ends of the adapters. Seeing as I haven’t fried anything in five years, i’d say it’s working.
CryabetesParticipantQuote:Okay, I’ve experimented some more. The external controller (in my case the EA-1), does NOT run the V256 internal synth UNLESS the controller is set to output CC messages on MIDI channel 16. On 16 the music programmed in my EA-1 (Electrotribe) sequencer plays havoc with the vocal output of the V256. Here’s the rub: Vocoding works best with a drone or simple slowly evolving melody and sounds like warbling crap when the pitch of the synth varies too quickly, such as in a programmed pattern phrase or “loop”. KISS (Keep It Simple Stupid) seems to rule the day!Quote:I’ve been playing with my V256, feeding it’s internal synth with the MIDI output of a Korg EA-1 MKII on MIDI channels 1 & 2. Seems to work although I do have some questions since the V256 instructions say the V256 comes factory preset to Omni Off mode set to channel 16. How does one access the V256 MIDI setup? Can that channel 16 be changed to another MIDI channels, such as 1 or 2? Can Omni Off be changed to Omni On? You got me. Is there a secret combination of buttons to push or are the MIDI perimeters “fixed in place”? What MIDI channel(s) are you using to communicate with the V256, using your A-station?oh dang man that sounds awesome.
GASing for one of these now to use with my EA-1.
and maybe send the output signal back into the EA-1 to use as the Audio-input modulation source.CryabetesParticipanttry powering it seperately. The older HG’s don’t like being daisy chained.
CryabetesParticipantgod I kinda wish they would so I could arrange it [on the pedal board] to have the bypass switch in the ‘heel’ position. I don’t know whose brilliant idea it was to make it jump to max resonance upon turning on but every time I use one I get annoyed by that.
CryabetesParticipantfor getting a treadle type control on a pedal, couldn’t you just use an expression out and a standard enclosure? I mean, yeah it might be a bit impractical but it’d get the job done and would open up options for swapping out LDRs and whatever.
CryabetesParticipantThe Boss LS-2 would work, as would the DOD FX30B [which would have a softer footswitch]. Otherwise if you feel like tracking down vintage EHX stuff, they made a panning volume pedal [ie, toe down is signal A, heel down is signal B].
CryabetesParticipantis the cable you’re using a Tip-Sleeve cable or is is Tip-Ring-Sleeve? [ie, is the signal being send to the input a mono one or a stereo one?]
CryabetesParticipant……you know there are modes that don’t use the noisegate, yeah? does it still pop in those?
CryabetesParticipanthow loud is your input signal? like are you running distortions or anything into it?
CryabetesParticipantprobably in the effects section of the pedal. at this point, you can either contact EHX or build something else in the nice, ready enclosure [fuzz pedal, overdrive, something.]
January 4, 2011 at 9:50 pm in reply to: Replaing Little Big Muff and Dano Fab Tone with Germanium 4…. #113510CryabetesParticipantI don’t know about ‘oomph’, but there’ll definitely be more versatility with an BMPG4.
and the fabtone is definitely an overdrive. not a fuzz. an o.d. with really harsh diode clipping, yeah, but still an overdrive. I’d keep it on-board though for extra ‘oomph’ though. -
