you should check out some of the international shipping auctions on the ebay; I got a stack of 12 128MB cards for about 2.50 a pop from hong kong, just some generic, no name cards that were taking up space in someone’s stock list.
I mean, formats come and formats go. I still use both 3.3v and 5.5v smart media cards in a couple of my samplers and while they’re not exactly convenient, they do last longer than the consumer/manufacturing lifespan would suggest. also, there’s always adapters and whatever. Really the only restriction is the software to format them, which, understandably, is not readily available on mac. personally, if I were you, I’d look into trying to get an old PC from around the windows 98/windows xp era that you use exclusively for legacy equipment support. Probably can be found or assembled fairly cheap, save for the monitor.

three tremolos? that seems like such a bad idea with how much signal you’d potentially be losing to the ‘off’ phase. And the wave shape of the tremolo was set to square?

would it work better sending the boost output to a compressor and the trem output to the sidechain/key input? Also, how fast was the max speed on the tremolos, give or take?

that like a precursor to the pulsar then?

the general difference between a pitch shifter (moves in semitone or whole tone steps) and a digital octave pedal is an octave doubles or halves the frequency without regard to frequencies coming in. take a look at this wikipedia link

Now, a guitar’s low E is 82.41hz for the fundamental. Each octave down divides that in two – so , -1 octave is 41.25hz, -2 octaves is 20.77hz. The lower limit of human hearing in otherwise silent/anechoic chamber situations is 14hz; the generally accepted ‘lowest frequency you can hear’ is 20hz (also generally around the lowest frequencies most amplifiers will put out).

Now, with digital effects, the low frequencies are left wholly intact – I mean, the Digital/Analog converters aren’t going to screw with your lows (your highs maybe but that’s a whole different matter that you can read about at this link) – but the amplifier or preamp sections might trim it, and it’s doubtful the speakers will reproduce it.

Now let’s look at your droptune B -15vb scenario. B1 is 61.74hz so B0 would be 30.87hz and B-1 would be 15.44hz. That’s no longer audible. That’s no longer sonic frequencies – that is kinetic frequencies. That is rumble. infrasound. your speakers will not be able to accurately reproduce it. True, you’ll get the harmonics showing through, but the fundamental note will not be there.

Also the PS-5 was a terrible pitch shifter – it and the Hr-2 (another turd) replaced in the boss catalog one of the best pedals ever made, the PS-3. The Micropog or Pog2 will get you what you need.

no. Go to a computer repair shop and ask if they’d do it. It shouldn’t be a big hassle to do. don’t want to go running around town? you’ve got an internet and, in all likelyhood, a phonebook.

If you’re trying to use it for, say, switching guitars, you should use a normal switchblade in reverse.

1 – do you use your guitar’s volume control? You shouldn’t with equipment that is amplitude triggered like the microsynth, hog, etc. It expects a set volume; a compressor helps provide that. You not turning down your input volume ALSO helps provide that.
    2 – no idea
3 – likely destined to be gigantic forever, although i’m disappointed they haven’t put out a rack version yet.

pry the frets out of your guitar.
restring with a small piece of felt between the strings and bridge.
retune to the notes you’ll need so you can play all open strings.
use a pog/pog 2 to repitch up or down as needed.

BFF = Bi Filter Forever. Amazing how many tweens are into the Bi Filter.
RT = Ring Thing. amazingly popular on twitter; they’re all about the sideband modulation.
BM = Bass Metaphors. something everyone should have every morning.
DM = Double muff. Typically required to play dungeons & dragons.
GOD = Germanium Overdrive. Respected by many musicians that also use the DMM to sound like U2.
WTF = White Finger compressor. Often used for expressing disbelief that so many musicians use one.
