CryabetesParticipant
I found an ebay seller in hong kong selling 128mb ones for about $3 each but that was a while ago and I haven’t looked since.
CryabetesParticipant…guys the uh HOG is still on the EHX products list.

RIP 2880, RIP HOG
CryabetesParticipantI’m at work so I can’t take a listen to your sample but I’ll share my method I use to deal with these.
You’ll need a DAW of some sort (even Audacity works)
if you have any notch filter or parametric EQ VSTs, run the track through that with the following settings:
band gain at negative inifity
Q/bandwidth at one octave
and move the “frequency” control until the noise stops.
Then adjust the band gain and Q/bandwidth until you have an acceptable balance between signal and noise.
Then resample/render the track at the same settings it was input at.I use Sony Acidpro 7 and the Paragraphic Equalizer for this, but it’ll work with just about any EQ VST.
CryabetesParticipanthey, i’m one of those. RDS 3.6 all the way baby.
CryabetesParticipantindividual outs (or assignable outs?) would be one thing I’d love to see in the 2880. Even if it were a “cue out” system like a DJ would use. The CF cards…. yeah. some sort of rudimentary menu system like on maybe an electribe or MPC would be way more handy than swapping cartridges. Makes me feel like i’ve got a gameboy on stage.
CryabetesParticipantYeah iunno, I use a 2880, but like I said, I use a sampler/drum machine, not a guitar. could always have your drummer play to a click track.
CryabetesParticipantThere’s also the Malekko Omicron AD for a still-findable/buyable-without-selling-a-kidney solution
CryabetesParticipantbuy a looper with midi sync functionality and replace your drummer with a drum machine.
I realize that sounds like trolling but really it’s the only way i’ve ever been able to sync things.
CryabetesParticipantnooo 80/20 is a phosphor bronze string type (http://www.amazon.com/Elixir-Nanoweb-Bronze-Acoustic-Strings/dp/B0002E1O2C)
and the pickup would either be something like this: http://www.lollarguitars.com/blog/tag/archtop/
or similar to the bridge on that, but with longer arm-rails that would extend over the strings. It would probably have to be custom made.CryabetesParticipantI’d advise getting an over-the-strings pickup and brace like they used for old jazz archtops. Less cutting means less interferring with the bracing on the guitar, which means less ‘loss’ of acoustic tone and less likelihood of it turning into splinters when you put string tension on it. Your output would be basically like a cello or contrabass output jack (mounted to the top) and you’d probably have to get creative with the tone/volume.
Alternatively, you can mount everything on a gigantic pickguard but that monkeys with the balance of the guitar.
As far as electric strings on it, it’ll sound majorly thin as just an acoustic. I’d recommend 80/20 acoustic elixirs as they sound good on both acoustic and electric guitars and play pretty darn close to an electric.
CryabetesParticipantalso the mixdown track made the 2880 more than 4 loops, arguably.
CryabetesParticipantan onboard sequencer would be awesome too, or a backup system a little more modern than CF cards. Maybe asynchronous loop capabilities or a multiplier system (aka, you take a loop, and specify “play four times – the total duration of four loops is the new “one loop” speed”) or tap tempo.
CryabetesParticipantIt doesn’t produce noticable delays – 3.5ms (aka you aren’t going to hear it) to 65ms (you might hear a flanging/wave cancelling artifact) and it doesn’t allow for delay feedback.
Like I said before, it is a sort of waveshaping tool that allows you to make a digital delay sound like an analog one – an entirely different monster than having a digital synth sound like an analog synth.
CryabetesParticipantyou could run two 9v supplies into an 18v supply but the signal-to-noise ratio will be worse.
