The Big Muff needs no reviews, it is already a firmly established classic.
CostchParticipantQuote:but maybe in a nano with the knobs side by side. That could happen, but EHX wouldn’t have both nano’d at the same time. They would choose one or the other, probably the double because it seems to sell better, and it’s more versital. It would be really cool if they reissued the “plug” style muff fuzz and LPB-1 too.
CostchParticipantQuote:What i think EHX should do is supply little adaptors that you connect to the end of a barrel style plug which goes to the classic style mini-jack plug so you can use a regular power supply with the pedal without any extra hassle.Ibanez do this with their classic pedal reissues such as the TS-808.
They should also keep the old style chassis version of every pedal they convert to XO in production to allow people to choose which to go for, provided this is feasable.
Visual Sound makes those adaptors. Io think they sell for about $2. I like the idea of keeping the classic chassis too, but I think that it would be to expensive for EHX to do this. What EHX should do is have an online poll for each effect, to determine if the people would rather have the XO or classic.
CostchParticipantQuote:i didn’t mean for the previous post to be taken the wrong way, i’m frustrated, most of my pedals are E-H, AND i’m glad they made smaller, cheaper pedals for the masses, but for every 5 of them, there’s one of me who’s got Moog’s , modulars, and other analog boards , and i didn’t come this far to “get the smaller one”. Steel costs alot more now. i’d be willing to pay $100 – $150 more for some of the new nano’s in the classic format. my head is reeling over the new stereo polyphase, clone theory , and that new voice box! i remember a time in the not-so- distant past before the boutique’s popped up everywhere, EH was where you went to spend some dough on a bad ass analog pedal. and it still is. i feel like i’m sounding snooty with all this. i just , like, the,.. old style. for reference, i make 10 lousy bux an hour, but i’m patient and really enjoy playing with frequencies on inspiring equipment…..I couldn’t agree more. Don’t worry, you didn’t sound snooty at all. Hopefully an EHX employee will read this and try to make this chasnge.
CostchParticipantI heard that the octaving section of the regular POG is digital while the input gain preamp is analog. I wanna see some more crazy things that have never been done before, like the voicebox.
CostchParticipantQuote:Quote:I really need to get a Double Muff soon. Something tells me EHX will discontinue it by next year, maybe even sooner.yeah, I could easily see it becoming a nano.
Well there’s already the Nano Muff, which is basically a single muff out of this thing, but it is probably different.
CostchParticipantQuote:OK, so here’s the solution I propose solution: EHX makes XO enclosures that are small and practical, and then the people who feel the need for a larger pedal can put their Muffs in old refrigerator boxes, and paint “Colossal Muff Pi” on it. Problem solved. No…
CostchParticipantQuote:for what it’s worth, i like that size/styling too… but it’s not going to happen now with the move to XO/Micro/Nano. there have been quite a lot of pedals in that size casing in the past though (not including the recent/current pedals: Double Muff, Holy Grail, Dr Q etc)…Wow, I had no idea some of those even existed. That little muff looks really cool.
CostchParticipantKind of barren at the moment, (although I usually don’t have much pedals on it anyway). Need to replace that shitty phase 90 with a real phaser (small stone of course).
CostchParticipantI really need to get a Double Muff soon. Something tells me EHX will discontinue it by next year, maybe even sooner.
CostchParticipantThe Metal Muff with Top Boost was my first EHX pedal. Good pedal no doubt, but I really should have thought it through before getting one. I had perfect metal tone in my amp already. But here’s a surprise: the amp is a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe. I just have to crank the gain and EQ all the way up, and there you have it.
CostchParticipantQuote:Rubbish to ye all. A Big Muff by any other enclosure would sound as sweet. We’re not just talking about tone here (although the big pedals sound better to my ears). The mojo! Think about the fucking mojo!
CostchParticipantYou can’t really betray Boss, because (I think) that their effects are horribly digital sounding. It’s more like “moving on”. But there is nothing wrong with buying effects from more than one company, you pretty much have to because EHX doesn’t make a manual wah.
CostchParticipantI’ve never really cared for compression, so I obviously wouldn’t do it, but that’s just me.
CostchParticipantSize has never really been an issue with me, because I usually will only have about 5-6 pedals on my board at once. EHX could make the XO series even more compact with top jacks, something I find to be a better design when using patch cables with rather cumbersome plugs, because about an inch of space is lost between pedals. Perhaps EHX could do a limited reissue of a classic pedal in the original inclousure, maybe a run of about 1000 pedals each.
