HANKYOU thankyou Thany You for posting those schematics. My vocoder LIVES!

    BOY was it gubbed though.

Had intermittent power problems and the thing just made a buzzing sound. I replaced lots of transistors and a few of the op-amps. This killed the annoying buzz but still no joy. Found the power was spiking all over the place and replaced the transformer with a temporary power supply.

Got some odd behaviour out of the thing.. appeared to be working in ‘bypass’ mode only and the sound was still screwy. Added a whole bunch of extra ground wires to the sockets (possibly a problem as I have them out of the case and lying on the bench). Sound improved but was still stuck in bypass mode. Had a very close look at the wiring on the sockets.. oh someone’s been at this before and wired ’em up wrong! They have got the wire the is supposed to go to the bypass peddle connected to ground so it’s effectively permanently selected.. DOH!

Fixed that and I believe I’m hearing vocoder like sounds :)

    YAY!
    Thanks Again!

I made scans, but I have to look on my PC at home, remind me if I forget :)

    Brilliant. Thanks.

I had a quick look at it last night. The power supply appears OK (the power LED was blown, that’s all) I was surprised the thing only appears to run on +DC power. All the other vocoders, like most synth gear I’ve looked at appear to have a +15 / GND / -15volts or similar layout.

It still just makes the buzzing sounds and since the yellow ‘level’ led never responds to an instrument it must be something before the vocoder section that’s causing the problem.
I’ll probably shotgun all the transistors first then start socketing and replacing the amp chips.

But those schematics should save me a lot of guess work.

    Nice …

Btw, I just received a lot of EHX schematics and there are some for the Vocoder as well (at least the filter part, not sure about the rest).

OH, Hi, I’m a newby to the forum. Just joined to try and score these exact schematics (for a faulty Electro-Harmonix Vocoder EH-0300 I just acquired)

I posted more details in a new thread…I should maybe have looked harder for this one first, sorry. Feel free to merge them if anyone can.

Anyway you’d make me a very happy solder monkey if you’d share the schematics with me?
    Thanks.
